hey guys. so for my new computer im obviously going to need some ace peripherals. so i have chosen the razer mamba for sure but keyboard wise im confuzzled. i wanted a wireless keyboard but obviously they dont exist in a high spec so that has left me going

so i have had a look around and found these 3 that i 'like' the look of (apart from the fact the enter button isnt the right shape on the logi and the razer)

i went to currys and the only one they had in stock was the g510. i like the idea of a screen but prefer the g19 screen but dont want a keyboard the needs 2 wires to run ffs so anyway the g510 keys kinda felt like crap just like a generic keyboard kinda squidgy and meh. there also was a razer lycosa but it know for a fact that is there crap spec one and it was crap so i presume the UBW would have amuch more quality feel cosidering the hefty price tag. i like the look of the k90 apart from the fact the ledss dont have a uniform level of illumination but i suppose i could get over it. so what do you guys think. anyone have experience with said kbs that could give me a little insight.

cheers dudes and dudettes

First off I would only recommend a mechanical keyboard and after owning both a BlackWidow and K90, here's my advice.

Secondly you need to decide what type of key switch you feel would suit you the most.

The MX Blacks/Reds are non tactile and silent.

The MX Blues are tactile and clicky.

The MX Browns are tactile and silent.

For gaming I would probably recommend Blacks/Reds.

When I first got my K90 I was slightly annoyed at the irregular levels of lighting across the board but I quickly got over it. The feel, aesthetics, quality are amazing and not to mention the awesome volume scroller.

If you feel that you want uniform lighting I suggest you take a look at the BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition as this uses MX Browns instead of Blues.

For the extra cash of the BW you get a full mechanical keyboard unlike the K90, also if you use a lot of macro keys the K90 has much more than the BW.

Loving my Cherry MX Blacks so far, pretty quiet if you don't bottom out. I wouldn't go for Blues for gaming really, not from what I've read anyway. By the way, I went for the SteelSeries 6GV2, you don't need backlighting, unless you have to look at your keyboard when you type.

i think you just sold me the k90 mate. cheers

I think that the reason that I was annoyed with the lighting when I got it was because I didn't know the lighting was like that and I was expecting the BWU style, but tbh, all the main keys are lit well above expected level and the 'glow' looks amazing

I'm loving this KB more and more each day

If you're going mech, then it depends what kind of games you play.

My opinions and points to consider:

- Browns or blues for rts and other games that require high apm.

- Reds and black for pretty much every other game.

- Blues for typing (some people don't like that clicky sound)

- Browns are less clicky(but still clicky) than blues (sort of a balance between all types)

- From what I understand blacks are the worst for typing because they require more strength to actuate it and you can't exactly tell when it is actuated (Reds are lighter to help remedy that problem but they are still not tactile)

In essence:

- For typing: Blue>Brown>=White(pretty rare to find)>Red>Black

- For gaming: It really depends what games you play

General run down of everything.

Do NOT buy the G510, I HATED IT! The space and shift keys are extremely difficult to press and are unresponsive, the LCD is useless these days (Face it, it really doesn't do anything) I had it for 3 days I got so pissed and I returned it. I soon bought the Razer Blackwidow, and I LOVE it!
