Literaly speaking we dont need them, but to have them there is a good thing. Like the olllllld argument of AGP over PCI-E, of course we didnt need PCI-E, but its there so why not.all these people that say "we dont need things yet" are crazy!!! I'd prefer all these technologies to keep moving up as quick as they can. You say pci-e 2 isnt needed yet, but you dont know, someone may have been waiting for the standard to be ratified in order to start there development, thus keeping the technology race up to speed. Nobody is forcing us to have the latest greatest stuff, if something comes out faster then so be it. Just means that couple years down the line when the average joe updates his system, they will be a hell of a lot better.
