PC vs Console

So, i got into a heated argument on some mexican forum, yah i know that was my first mistake LOL.

This is a long debate between PC Gamers and Console Gamers points to review :

Performance
Cost
Benefit
Amount of games
Price of games
Difference between games in PC/Console
Controls
Party Gamming (playing with friends and so on)
Companies interested in developing games for it
Is it really worth it ?
What gear do you get and what do you play (are you really taking an advantage or are you 1 of those people that has the best hardware available, but plays games like minecraft...)

So to start this debate, I'm going to say that i consider console gaming to be the best, however if we are going to go deep down to it, computers are not meant to be for gaming, of course you have a costume setup and you can add and remove whatever you feel like it, and you can get amazing performance, but after all the game developers do not care if you got the newest hardware available, they do games for the mass not just for you.

Performance
I don't know of any1 that can argue that the pc is weaker or slower than any console, however you do have to install the game in your hard disk and even then you still have to put that disk on.... (Some games), while on consoles you put the game and your good to go, sadly only xbox saved the game on the disk, couldn't do that on ps3 (or I didn't really care), computers perform different tasks, consoles are focused only on games (ofcourse by the time they are released the hardware is a bit outdated)

Cost
a good pc can go from 1000 usd to 500,000 usd if you buy a holy setup (sweet deals like the emperor chair or diamonds...)

the console system is the same for every1, and it wont beyond 400 usd lets say 1000 usd with all you need , cam, headset, controlers, etc(unless your somekind of mentally challenge kid that whants a ps3 with gold or even crazier a wii with gold then it will go to 5000, but lets not bring stupidy into this, Call of dutty for ps3 sold for 4000 usd on ebay, just to have it a few days before, damn those crazy kids) check up here

Benefit
Difference between a real gamer and an amateur
Real gamers have a whole display of the games they bought, i cant even brag about my league of legends space of the disk....console games and mostly retro are been overpriced, hard to get, and if you manage to have alot of them, your already in your way to be the most popular guys in the gamming comunity, hell i will love to have as many games as alphaomegasin has, and that is something you can really brag about...........
PC Gamers dont have a hole bunch of things to brag about but their setup, and sadly everyone can get the same setup, theres nothing "amazing in showing how much games you can save in your brand new SDD"
Me ? well i got the first version of Resident Evil, with the big case, and manuals, and up to this day my friends come to my house see it and always ask, HOW THE FUCK DID YOU GOT IT, i love that game.

Apart from games having a powerful PC benefits in alot of aspects, but it really narrows it down to what you use that for

Amount of games
Price of games

The amount of games in consoles are way more than the games on pc, the price is ridiculous 5-100 usd without the first days of release packages and hd combos that arent really hd(from ping pong to whatever newbie shooter gamers play this days)
Now that i think about it, i might be wrong with how many games are on pc, but on the other hand we shouldnt count emulators into the equation, but lets say theres a fair amount for both, but game developers focus more on consoles than pc games (and some pc games have the exact same quality that a console game has)

Difference between games in PC/Console
i had never have problems with mmo's on PC, unless the internet company .......... fucks something up and i die...
console games didnt reach a decent level playing online (at least i didnt play to this game a game that didnt give me heart attacks online mode)
console friend zone - you can share your games with your friends and your sure they can run that game, no geek requirements needed, you got a ps3 this is a ps3 game, end of the argument.

Companies interested in developing games for it
pc companies i just know about 5 or 6 companies that just develop 1 game or 2, theres nothing else
console has the fucking advantage here

Is it really worth it ?
PC gaming isnt really worth it, updating pc for different tasks and have fun while your at it, yes it is
Console gaming - you can brag about it, you have your tropies, you got your games and you can fucking claim youre a true gamer, im sorry but thats the way it is, if we talk about gaming, your nothing compared to a collection of games in their case.
But hey maybe some big PC gamer has a shitload of games, that probably no1 knew and that no1 cares about LOL

-pardon my grammar ill try to correct it

"a true gamer has a console"

A true gamer, plays games does not matter what he play it on. he or she just loves games simple as
and its preference i have an xbox 360 (had ps3 did not like it), and some games i did like more on the xbox due to the controller, but with a usb controller i can play it on the pc and in everyway i prefere the pc, and a pc is not just a console its a storage system for all your memories plus work and its a mass socialising tool.
alot of people take pride in the modifications they do to their pcs, i know i do.
and i have over 200 xbox tittles and the same on the PC,
PC games tend to be cheaper than console games and all games are made on the pc then "dumbed" down and made to run on consoles which are designed to run on tv's not high resolution high contrast monitors.
So as a GAMER i prefere my pc to play but happy to play on anything :)
also sorry about the grammer guys and girls i have dyslexic fingers :p

A true gamer, plays games does not matter what he play it on

Agree but we are trying to narrow now whats the best place to play at, you sound like a guy that has a good internet a good monitor, and a fucking monster pc, ofcourse you enjoy the pc, but just a little percent of people can really afford things like that, if i could afford an emperor chair i will build a bathroom in my room, and a kitchen LOL, i could live in that chair

and i agree a gamer plays on an atari if he can find the adapter.........

and its preference i have an xbox 360 (had ps3 did not like it), and some games i did like more on the xbox due to the controller, but with a usb controller i can play it on the pc and in everyway i prefere the pc, and a pc is not just a console its a storage system for all your memories plus work and its a mass socialising tool.

i played xbox i never really bought 1, but i want to buy a ps4 and whatever the next xbox is called, playstation move is kind of lame (also theres no playstation or xbox move for pc as far as i know, you could program it, but theres no games for it xP)
been social on the pc, yah back in the day those people where called nerds, geeks, today every1 wants to chat online, cellphones etc, i do not consider socialising online a true social experience, mostly because for years they told us, it isnt.

:p

again you sound like 5000 usd or more spend on that, with that amount of money i could enjoy everything, not every1 has that amount, this is consider to be a public thing, if we are going to say that pc is better, then you must understand that your pc is better, most of us (regular people) have shitty pc's, jesus i got a samsung led at 64hz, my 46 tv has more quality than this LOL

also sorry about the grammer guys and girls i have dyslexic fingers :p
i blame gameboy

i only spent around 3000usd (im guessing the exchange rate it was around 2000 sterling), including monitor and everything for it over the entire year, i dont drink or smoke and tend not to go out unless its with work. so i buy more toys instead im a full time uni student. and i rent a room in a house thats it, as for the games that took me 5-6 years to get i just dont trade in or sell my games, i have around 55k Gs on the xbox and i have some games on both xbox and console depends what mood im in.
and why do they call facebook and twitter social networks ;).
as for the tv thats down to you i have a 42" led tv for my blu ray player and xbox. and a 26" asus 3d monitor for the pc lol not much room in my room but im happy
so if someone wants a mean machine they save up for it. i did and im on a harsher budget than most.
and my pcs not a monster yet im saving for a 670/680 or 2 in sli till ill cool it a lil monster

who the f*ck cares. the PC is the better platform if you can afford it, no doubt about that. if you like userfriendliness, can deal with outdated hardware and have no money in your wallet you go for a console.

all i can do is nod head and give thumbs up for this comment

some anger issues here :X

and yet, what are the games you play ?

no seriusly guys what do you play on pc, dont bring up first person shooters, seriusly first person shooter, brainless games without anything but mod hacks, and auto iams, thats some serius skill.....
i still doubt that pc is better than a console, but i can predict that most of the pc gamers, are first person shooters (welcome to the call of dutty fanboy base)

I think assuming all PC gamers are COD, FPS only fans is wrong. I love fps games but the PC is also one of the premier platforms for RPGs, Tactical RTS games, Simulators and more. Plus MMOs and of course the fact that many games on PC are given new leases of life thanks to mods (think ARMA 2, DayZ).

If you ask me, the only games consoles are better for is platformers and racing games, mainly due to the controller but that argument becomes void when you remember you can get these controllers for your PC

I get consoles but if i have the money to buy a half decent system i'm happy to stay as a PC gamer primarily and a console gamer distant second!

Crikey, not this old chestnut again?

People can game where they like. Whatever turns you on and all that.

Is pretty much why I am still gaming on a PC. And that is only down to one game; Fallout 3.

Had I not ever played that game I would no doubt have a console right now, but those missing out on the mods missed out on another pretty much complete game.

I played a good few third party DLC for that that were actually better than the Bethesda ones. In fact, the only DLC they released for Fallout 3 that even got my attention was Point Lookout. Broken steel has been heralded by many as an excellent DLC but tbh? that one was a complete con. It should have been in the game stock, not charged for.

I'm not demanding anything for nothing but it's kind of like one of those sneaky films you go and see that doesn't have an ending and relies on you paying again to see the second half (think The Matrix sequels)

Some of the third party quests were absolutely terrific. Vault 74 scared the absolute bejesus out of me. Was hard too.

until this day i have never ever meet or know of any1 with a huge collection of pc games, however like i said before its about cost/performance and the companies.

if you think that for a bit, you know theres alot of companies, and what do they do for pc ?
plantz vs zombies
angry birds
minecraft

theres alot of good fun games like
league of legends
startcraft
the jedi something

the problem is, this games are good and everything but you cant really enjoy them without a connection, and again to be honest i have never seen a pc gamer collection, but ill google right now

this shows my point and narrows it down clearly, to show what a real gamer aims for

Well you met one today.

Some day soon I might do a thread on my PC games, but even thinking about it makes me realise how long it would take. I have every Sega PC title ever released going all the way back to Daytona USA and Sega Rally.

Then there's the entire Sierra collection I have. Half life, Opposing Forces, Blue shift, Gunman Chronicles.

haha yeah maybe soon I'll do that.

Lol what? As someone that played a fps competitively I can tell you there is a lot of skill involved in it.

If you are referring to pub hackers then that can happen in any online game on any system. Also I have noticed half the time people will call you a hacker because they are not as good as you at the game and thus cant realise why they keep dying. The amount of times I have had someone call hacks on me in many fps is rediculous. As an example I have played cs:s and cs:go competitively and in both those games, any cod game, bf3 and a few others I have been called a hacker and especially in bf3 deathmatch. I have had many people say they are reporting me which just makes me lol.

Here is a list of what I play regularly atm.

Sim city
Dota 2 just with friends
Bf3
mafia 2
dishonored

Now games I have are

The witcher 2
Warhammer 40k space marine and dawn of war 1 and 2
Unreal tournatment 3
Thomas was alone
Terraria
Team fortress
Css
Csgo
sleeping dogs
Civ 5
Rock of ages
Poker night at the inventory
Saints row 3
Rome total war
portal 1 and 2
Payday the heist
Deus ex human revolution
Magic the gathering
Limbo
Left for dead 1 and 2
Himan blood money and absolution
Half life 1 and 2
gotham city imposters
f1 2012
Fear
Dmc
Batman arkham city
Alan wakes american nightmare
Adventures of shuggy
Arma 2 -dayz
Beat hazard and audiosurf
Far cry 3
Assassins creed 3
need for speed most wanted 2013

I am probably missing some but that is the gist of what I play. I only play games on my pc now as I prefer the usability of it eg any controllers you like and changing so many settings either for graphics or frame rates. Some games I cannot play on low frame rates and others I can so having options to change those settings is nice.

As for the whole oh pc is crapper because you have to install stuff is just stupid. I am sure you could wait less than 2 mins for the game to install. Oh and I take it you have never played a ps3 game as it took over 30 mins for gran turismo 5 to install on my ps3 I shit you not.

"a true gamer has a console"

This is not a fact, do not try to state that it is.

A true gamer is someone that loves to play games.

Also please do not talk about how companies love to develop on games consoles, you have no idea.

when they get a massive pc game rooms ill say your right xP

The beautiful thing about pc gaming is you dont have a load of useless plastic taking up space in your rooms. With the advent of digital downloads you can have all your games on a 2 tb hard drive.

If you want those boxes then that makes you a collector not a gamer. You collect the boxes for whatever reason not the games because if you just wanted the games you wouldn't care about having a room full of games.

Also there is loads of single player games for pc that you do not require a connection for go google some.

Last point almost all games on console are available for the pc bar some of the exclusives but you cant help that. If you have an xbox and want gt5 then you cant play it either so you would be in the same boat.

i play mostly horror games, and adventure, racing games that ar ebased on real cars, are so boring for me, i enjoy more little big planet karting (the new super mario kart, so fun)

yeah............
think about that

ill assume your going to do a youtube video of your collection of emulators and rooms, yeah i might as well be a collector of useless without value rooms.........

I don't remember mentioning the amount of games on PC compared to consoles?

But you are most likely wrong by thousands. Your console brain is too focused on big shot publishers who pay developers to make games, console exclusive.

Open your eyes boy, there are hundreds of games wrote for PC every day.

Each platform has it's purpose and each person has their own preference.

The day consoles get Humble Bundle deals is the day I may feel more inclined...

When it comes down to it, it really doesn't matter how games are played for as long as you get enjoyment from them. I prefer PC gaming for most stuff, but when I just want to kick back in bed and get my arse handed to me from by some 11 year olds I return to some light console shenanigans.

Enjoyment is a key factor here, and there's no set definition for everyone.

you cant really decide on the level of enjoy, back in the day i remember playing mario kart with friends, those were the days of happiness

anyways, i still say that console gamming is better and cheaper, however if you want a massive amount of games, that you will barely play just saved on disk and you do not care, if you can brag about them or not, PC is the way to go.

i still dislike the controls on pc gamming, i got nothing against a keyboard, and they are great but comon, you could figure some controls for your game......
the only thing i actually did download to my pc was the ps3 controler driver, but my pc didnt run the ps2 emulator, it got stuck and it sucked hard LOL

i still play metalslug on pc, i think im just lazy to get my ps running.... since my games on that console are not exactly bought, if you get my drift xP

--------------------

i would love some pictures of back to the future LOL, i cant even believe you still got those, fairly new games, not bad i thought you had previous games, but is a good decent stack
