PC vs Console

For starters the online gaming community on PC is much, much more polite, friendly and intelligent than your average xbox live lobby (there are a few exceptions admittedly). When I hopped over to playing games on pc I was amazed when people weren't; a)having a massive fight, b)falling for trolls, and c) spamming the chat with dick jokes.

as much as i want to agree with this, this isn't true. if you play the recent games like BO2 or BF3 you get the kiddies, the hackusations and the retards and when you play older games you get the "lol kanker feggit" very noob unfriendly people. i actually enjoy that older community, but it isn't for everyone.
it's still multiplayer games, there is a reason why shoutcasters have the chat disabled at events :D

In comparison I should've added ;D.I never really got into the various COD games so I can't comment on the state of lobbies. To be fair most of my gaming these days revolve around arma 2 & 3 as well(unsuprisingly not so many idiots/kiddos as they've all been attracted to dayz really.)and when I did play battlefield I was usually on servers that weren't too tolerant of children.

i only spend my time in older games, and if you get insulted there you usually deserve it and when you then take offence of it you should probably quit gaming :D it's all good fun
it's also the perfect kiddy filter

im going to continue this argument as soon as i get my new pc and the games that you recomended.

so yup im waiting...

I will start with.... Play what makes feel good, there is no wrong answer.

With that said here is my opinion.
PC is the only way to game for me. I game almost every night playing a range of games from mmo's to fps's action adventure ECT. I play online and offline and feel of a pc just can't be beat.

Again this is my opinion but I think a consol player is a ametur game where as a PC gamer to be more hardcore, dedicated. With a consol you buy it and away you go, not caring that the graphics could be better, screen could be crisper. You never look at performance. Where as when you build a gaming PC you can not only customizes it to your own specificication and looks but you as can look at what you want it to do but how good you want it to perform. You can build a pc for the same price as the new console and get the same if not a bit better performance game wise but you can also multitask with it were a consol is ver limited on what it can do. So in closing if you want a easy gaming life (casual) then a consol is the way to go, and if you are more of a hardcore gamer and want to dedicate more time and efort then pc is the way for you.

There's a few good reasons to get a console over a PC when it comes to just gaming -

1. Reliability

2. Ease of use i.e You put the game in and play

3. Don't have to worry about upgrading components

4. Don't have to worry about drivers

5. You can game with friends on the same machine

6. Easy to transport

7. Exclusives

8. You don't want to clutter your room with keyboard, Mouse, Tower, Monitor and various bits.

9. Some truly awesome games come out on console that we either never see on PC or have to wait a long time for badly done ports and even then a lot of really high end rigs struggle to play them without massive frame dips.

You do make some good points.

But let me go throught a few you go wrong...

1."reliability" half of my clanare consol only and we game on Xbox, and everyone of the got the red ring of death. I myself got it on one of xboxs. Right now i have 3 xboxes in my house to fix from the red ring to the disc drive broke.

5."game on sane machine" you can play on that machine, turn base games and games like FIFA, I am sure there are more I just don't know them.

6."easy to transport" a lot of people build lan party rigs, small itx builds and mitx. Very easy to transport even on public transport.

7."exclusives" PC have them to. No matter what platform you play on PC Xbox playstation there games you will missout on.

But the rest are all valid points.

I cannot believe someone has created a PC and Console war...

Console = Cheaper and easier to use
PC = Better Performance

Thats IT!

2. On consoles that isn't the case anymore. The game has to be installed on the console, although you can start playing before the installation is complete.

3. If you buy a high end graphics card, you can continue to play most games on high settings for at least a couple of years. On medium settings the longevity would be increased further and the games would still look as good as they would on a next-gen console.

On points 1, 5, 6 and 7 I agree with chewy. Having said all this, your points are still very valid. Overall, I agree that gaming on a console is more convenient. Both have their negatives and positives and there is no point being elitist about either side. Just enjoy the benefits of both!

Tbh the input device argument, pc can use console controllers.
The price, pc only costs more if you want to max out games, if you want the same performance it is the same price if not cheaper. Games on pc are also cheaper. Pcs are quieter, more compact, more reliable depending on your OS, if you want to just play games whenever im sure there is a Linux distro which is basically a multimedia library. The only negative i can think of for pc is that you cant play a game with another person on the same device. However that could soon change. I know of a PS2 emulator that allows you to use 2 controllers so i dont see why somebody couldnt mod a game to allow for 2 players.

all of those are valid reasons but reliability.
it's just computer parts after all, they break in the same fashion as any pc part.
also some of those points may crumble now that consoles are x86 based.
