Parvum Systems Project Magnus

Hey imersa, your pictures aren't showing.

Ah thanks for the heads up. I checked it that night and it was down, still playing up on my phone but appears to be working on all browsers I checked on. Our host having some issues it seems.

Working for you now?

This build log is making me more and more of a fapaholic

Ty Imersa and happy new year!

Thanks mate, really can't wait to we will this bad boy!

Acrylic front tubing and Monsoon bending kit

A small update:

So well known forum modder/builder/negative/argumentative/point-well-made friend B-NEG came to check out the Parvum set up. He actually came to brief us on a reservoir we will be custom milling for him but while he was down came with his new Monsoon kit. Here is the photo of the full kit:

Really nice little kit. Obviously as stated already here bending is not something we personally like as a look but for the front of the case we needed to use a few concealed bends with acrylic. For anyone who is already good at bending tubing or just wants to start I'd say go for it! Its expensive for the full kit but it's something you'll use on all builds. Just please don't go crazy with the bends! ;D

A few of my favorite pieces:

The little cutting jig is really cool.

So apply heat:

And bend! B-NEG = lots of bending. Another nice little touch with these is you can screw or clamp them down. Useful if you want to make more advanced jigs:

Test fitting the tube:

Tubing in place:

The black panel will be re-cut to improve this. We knew this was going to be pretty likely but now we can bring it down much lower and file away a 45° section. This should pretty much hide all of the bend.

Finally it wouldn't be a B-NEG helping hand without his partner in crime:

UNTIL NEXT TIME. THANK YOU!

Lighting looks amazing!

It's 2014! We are still here and with one of my favorite bits! Lighting starts!

First we start with yet another break down. This time was to fit the final motherboard tray and fit the single LEDs:

Next we add the Phobya LEDs, 2 pin setup, so nice and simple:

Honestly so stoked on how the white LEDs look in the XSPC blocks:

Chucked a LED strip in the bottom just to see how the res's look:

Until next time. Questions please?!

The lighting looks very nice , it tops the whole build out.
Cable management is excellent .
With all the custom work you've done , you should be very proud of the rig when it's complete.
Great Job.

Nice cable management!

those LEDs look TOP!!

Thanks sir! Was worth breaking it down to add them.

those wires got a laugh out of me anyways!

Haha why did it make you laugh? Dem wires are very serious!!

Just want to see it with fluid in now... really wanted to use black in one loop but with the chance of a colour change I'm somewhat concerned. Me no wana ever drain this :D
Thanks for the kind words mate.

I still don't understand the crazy tube runs from the GPUs, but it looks so funky I don't care. :D

Haha it's a bit mental... to help clear things up.. the first two kind connect together from the super long runs... they then our sent up one of the two front tubes to head to the top of the case where they then connect to the raid card then into the third top GPU.. Something like that anyway. I have it all written down don't worry!

Hah I've missed this thread, nice to see magoo :) Also really pleased me to see B-Neg getting involved as well.

I think I'ma pick up one of those monsoon kits, are they in the UK or only on Frozencpu?

Custom raid card waterblock

Another update all!

As mentioned previously we more than had to do something about the raid card. Not only for aesthetics but to help with the cooling. The passive cooling is pretty weak and not helped by the lack of any system fans near by.

Now this is what I love about modding; never throw anything away! I've been saving this little EK bridge block for about 6-7 years. I didn't even buy it back then to use it just saw it going cheap second hand. I since rescued it when I was visiting my parents over Christmas. Now we put it to use! So perfect for the job:

327.jpg

Next we cut a small piece of 5mm clear and tapped it for the fittings:

328.jpg

We then cut the 5mm black acrylic lid. Used a 1mm deep V bit to make a nice detaling. Also trying to keep within the XSPC style here:

329.jpg

Copper block installed with M3 bolts; as you can see O ring doing its job:

330.jpg

331.jpg

Passive cooler removed and fresh thermal compound added:

332.jpg

Clear acrylic and block installed to the raid card:

333.jpg

Grabbed the old springs from the passive heat sink to help reduce risk of over tightening:

334.jpg

With the top installed; wow we are super happy at this point:

335.jpg

For what was a relatively quick to make solution... over the moon. It took a lot of time to get the measurements bang on but the rest went together super easy:

335.jpg

Installed in the case with 2 x LEDs for a test fit:

Certainly fits the XSPC monster now and look forward to not having any temperature issues. *In theory at least...*

Thanks for stopping by... another update very soon!
