Parvum Systems Project Magnus

Wow it's amazing!

Questions: When can I get one? Will you be able to do them with the motherboard the other way round?

Wow lads, you wanna be proud of this it just gets better everytime the thread pops up!

Hope you have better luck with the mayhems that I have :( (in terms of colour)

How do you get that awesome flat finish on the black acrylic? The cuts all clean up so beautifully too, having milled some acrylic myself recently I am amazed with the quality you achieve.

Seeing as you asked for feedback I will try my best to find a little crit.... oh damn this is hard... I don't like the front USB ports, well executed just not needed. Maybe do something with the SLI bridge?

I would be impressed if you could mill a tiny parvum logo into like a 40mm wide strip of acrylic. Maybe if you got a piece of chunky flat black, hollowed it out so from the sides it looked like a thick black piece but flush on the front. Then cut a piece of white/clear that fits back inside it to make it solid again. Fit/glue that in and then mill the 'parvum' hex logo through the front with the tiniest cutter just deep enough to cut through into the white/clear piece inside. Backlight with LED's for added epeen, although do you really need more!

PS. if you pull that off and it works send me one!

huuuuuuuuungry for the final pictures! :D no really, this beast is looking goooood

Thanks CreatiXx

I would have sex with that case, in the hope that I could somehow impregnate it and have it give birth to an awesome mini-ITX case! Amazing build, and that is an understatement!

Haha well we wish it would pop out mini-ITX babies every week or so... would help our production along nicely haha. Thanks also!

Love! I want one so bad, guess I have to buy a lotto ticket!

Truly and amazing piece of custom work. I am sure I would have marked the acrylic somewhere during the build. Your work is hugely impressive and inspiring

Thank you so very much for sharing

--Rick--

Proably be able to do another one for you for about £14K... it's not lotto money but its a LOT haha.

I guess we've learnt how to deal with the type of material really well. Shaun broke one screw hole in a certain panel but otherwise no damage!

Your welcome Rick, hope your back for the final photos, video and benchies!

This is nerdporn at it's finnest!! :)

I assume you mean the case itself? Honestly at this stage I'm not sure. We are already 3 months later than we wanted to be on the ITX. Once that is selling we will move onto the larger case! We will for sure to regular and reverse layout.

Thanks SuB and thanks for sticking around throughout the project. It's been a solid 6 months on this one!

Ah yeah I've heard of the black to brown issues. If it turns brown I'll just bin the rig, I'm not draining it xD

It's a double matte finish, you can actually buy acrylic like this but it's not cheap at all. For the good stuff you usually have to import from Italy or Germany but of course they have re-seller/disti in the UK. Well worth it but a LOT harder to cut than gloss acrylic. As for our cuts it's just practice and knowledge of routing, we've come a long way for sure. It's also down to time, we have to cut a lot slower than we would in an ideal world to keep quality up. We've looked into laser in the past but it just isn't viable to keep our counter sunk screws and the V bit detailing that we use. Along with custom things like acrylic inlay, they just are not possible with laser.

Thanks for the feedback. Wish we got more. The USB was something that was a must, believe it or not this will be my personal home system when not at trade shows and events. The slot loading blu-ray and the USB are things for home efficiency and practicality. Agree that it makes one side look a little heavy but no biggy!

SLI bridge is a tricky one. We actually made something similar, 3mm frosted layer with 5mm black on top. V bit 45 edges on the black with a tiny Parvum logo in the center. It's super hard to get another LED to that spot now but I hoped the LEDs in the XSPC blocks with disperse though the bridge. It does but not as much as I'd like. I'm also unsure on it yet so imagine I'll post photos.

Have another idea in mind if no joy!

looks fantastic Imersa, makes me sad though at the same time

The journey is not yet over Conchubair! Final photos at the studio. A video that we plan to shot on an awesome location to include something... pretty crazy. Also bench marks and photos of the rig at events!

Hopefully some of the folk here will see it in person also! :)

if you bin the rig, can you tell me I'll need to come save it :)

And you're more than welcome dude, it's been a good ride to follow! :D

Are you getting behind the times even I have SLI bridge lights in my mortal civilian rig, don't have any of that old fashioned front 'IO' either that stuff went out with optical drives. ;) Just kidding buddy it's great to see that it will actually be used and it's tailored for a purpose not just looks, it's a shame you don't have 7xx cards in it so you could mod an EVGA bridge.

Did you just say 'German double matt acrylic...' ooohhhh that pants thing just happened

Haha I know! This is why we will improve it! Actually they are 3 780's! We did some trading and buying and leg pulling and this was the result.

We then had a cheeky chat with Nvidia who sent 1 of the 3; 3-way SLI bridges within the whole of the UK (at nvidia at least).

Super stoked. Just thinking about the green LED it offers and what to do about it now.

SLI Bridge. What to do?

So our friends over at Nvidia sent us an awesome little gift. In fact one of the only 3 Nvidia have in the UK. Since we have the 780's it was only the correct thing to do and use the LED feature. However the decision is how and what to do with this? It fits in PERFECT with the build... just is the green too out of place? I imagine the LED is probably actually white, with the green rubber giving the green tone. I mean we want to support team green as much as possible on this one but will it kill the monotone?

Please let me know what you think and if you have any ideas?

If it's like the green gtx logos on the cards, it'll be a white led shining through white plastic with green paint. Get sanding!

Oh no way? Now that is good news :D
Got stock 780 and a 780 Ti cooler here, however they defintly feel like rubber rather than plastic? Have you seen this mod done? Link if so!

Thanks for letting me know. Resolved, googled the thread. For anyone interested first post on Google.

That is like the rarest piece of nerd pr0n in the entire world! I tried to locate one once and it was just impossible, they were supposed to be included with 'battlebox' systems but no retailers had enough to fit any basically, I think OCUK had one in each size lol. I mean while it would be one hell of a statement to mod it ... don't do anything irreversible, it's hella cool but if it's not going to work with this build hold it back for another day. Just get an EVGA one and make a new front, they already has white LED's.

I tell you what i'll do swapsies?

As it happens the thing wont fit lol. We test fit before thinking of any mods and it hits that XSPC rad. It's about 10-15mm longer than a standard bridge due to the tech. I've spoken to Nvidia and they said we can do what ever we want with it. We will run some kind of giveaway. Perhaps more of a modders only you tell us your project or something like this. The problem is I can already see interest from a few forums so will have to think of a way.

I can understand you will enter :D

Hi guys, almost time for the final photos. But first... we had to take them. We visited a good friend of ours Tom Barnes. Now usually he shoots portraits, lots of band promo and model work. Something different for him here. At least the model did what he asked :D

Check out his portfolio here: www.tombarnesphoto.com

I suppose this can be considered a teaser; one last one before the final photos. But a chance for anyone interested in photography to ask questions. What gear was used etc.

So please if there is anything you want to know about the camera, lights, settings... we will do our best to help!

More news on the SLI bridge giveaway soon!

Love the "Teaser Trailer" photos. Truly a work of art and deserves quality photos. Really looking forward to the official press photos.

Splendid work!
