Part List

Hey guys/gals,

Below is a list of parts I was going to use for an upcoming build. Will be gaming and overclocking with this rig. I will be using my Acer x233H monitor 1900x1080(awesome btw). Liked the black and gold of the Gigabyte board so will plan a black and gold theme around it. Will test everything on air first then install the water cooling for the CPU. From there will gradually add another graphics card, rad, and blocks for both graphics cards. Please let me know what you all think!

Case: Corsair 800D

Proc: i7 2600K

MoBo: Gigabyte P67-UD7

Video Card: Zotac AMP GeForce GTX 570 1280MB

Mem: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4 GB)

Power Supply: Corsair AX1200 1200W

SSD: OCZ Vertex 2 80GB (OS only Windows 7 Home 64bit)

HDD: WD 1.5TB 7200 RPM

Air Cooling: Cooler Master V8 Rifle 120mm

Case Fans: 2 x 140mm XIGMATEK XLF; 4 x 120mm XIGMATEK XLF

Fan Grills: 2x 140mm Gold Color; 4x120mm Gold Color

After everything checks out on air then….

1 x XSPC Rasa 750 RS360 kit (Gold fluid Color)

Replacing all barbs w/ black compression fittings

Just use the Intel stock fan for testing if you plan on going with that XSPC kit right away. No point in wasting money on that CM V8. Everything else looks good though.

+2 all looks good thare

Yea...thanks for the reminder on the stock cooler...don't know why I didn't realize that...guess I need more beer!

If all you're putting on the SSD is the OS then maybe you'd be better off with a 60gb force drive (if speed is up to scratch) or a small pci drive such as the ocz revo series

thanks for the inputs all. I probable will stick with the larger PSU just in case...I am actually still on the fence about the ram though...I did have it narrowed down to G. skill mushkin and corsair

Akasa AK-FC-03

.. is a multi-mode fan control with LCD display. Speed control for 4 fans and thermal monitor. 7 colour LCD display option. 5 colour fascia panels are available including black, red, blue, champagne and silver. It fits standard 5.25'' drive bay

so, it should go with your black and amber theme

here

low profile = mushkin ridgebacks

ain't bothered = corsair dominatorGT

Looked a little closer and decided to go with the mushkin ram over the corsair. Thanks for the suggestion. I know the 800D case is more water cooling and that is what I intend to use it for. However does anyone have a recommendation for the fans I should use instead of the stock ones? I was looking at:

120mm

and

140mm

Was also thinking of getting 2 of these HDD instead of one 1.5TB WD 7200rpm.

Again any help would be great! thanks!

Probably going to want a thicker rad for 2x 570's, would get away with it for just the cpu and 1x 570 but probably not 2x, cheaper in the long run to get the kit in parts but with the thicker rad instead.

I am planning on purchasing similar parts. I love the Gold and Black theme

I would opt for the Mushkin Blackline Frostbyte if you want quality RAM that also blends in with the Mother Board. They are very good in terms of performance and quality. The new Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey Series are also really good memory solutions.

Maybe if you are deciding to water cool in the future then its best if you purchase GPU that are equipped with watercooling heat sinks such as the EVGA FTW Hydro Copper or purchase GPU Water blocks from XSPC for the GTX 570 (I don't know if they make them).

For watercoling the XSPC 750 Rasa Kit comes with some lousy fans

In terms of silence the best fans are out there are the Sharkoon SE 120mm fans. They perform really well and are dead silent.

If you are looking for the best performance with the radiator (360) then go with Scythe Silent typhoon 120mm

These two fans are easily the best. You may even consider purchasing 6 of them and put three underneath and 3 above for push pull configuration. Hook them all up the fan controller and hey pres to!

cool thanks for the input...actually ordered my parts the other day. Only the water cooling stuff from frozen CPU has shown up so far...course it had the back plate for a 5970 not 570..oh well will still take a couple days for parts to arrive and the like so can send it back and have time to install when then 570 back plate shows up. Thanks for the help everyone. Going to try and do a decent project log when all the other parts get in!
