hey guys,

i need to send a 5kg parcel within the UK but as we all know Royal Mail are rip offs and are charging me £12.30 or £12.60 parcelforce.
I've heard of parcel2go and parcel monkey and their prices are cheaper but never used either of them. Has any one used em, what your experience?
I want avoid Royal Mail now

I have used P2G a few times, they are basically the middle man and arrange everything for you with the courier. The service comes down to the courier you choose though, I usually use City Link and have only had probs once with them saying they tried to deliver the item but didn't even go to the address (that was to Firat from here) I was able to rearrange the delivery for the next day and get it sorted though.

Any probs with the delivery depend on the courier though and not P2G but as long as you stick with the well known ones you shouldn't have any probs.

I've not used either of the two you have mentioned, but I have used UPS to deliver before. Although it was for work purposes and I think we get a discount of some kind. I'm not entirely sure but I've sent 5 - 10 Kg packages within the U.K and UPS only charge £6.26 for the standard delivery (cheapest - but it is still next day).

Got a quote with City Link for £9.16 with extra insurance and next day service. I'll go with them, they are the cheapest :)

If they also pick from home then i'll also consider using them as long as they are cheaper than royal mail :)

Yes you can schedule a collection as well. They don't charge extra for the collection from what I've seen.

EDIT: I just tried setting up a shipment on UPS as a guest and they charge £22 for a 5kg parcel unfortunately. Try signing up and check if there is a difference as I'm not entirely sure if the company I work for get some kind of business discount.

Yeh, the company I work for ship a lot of items every week, which is why it's so cheap for us.

Did you sign up and try? Or did you try as a Guest?

£12.30 for 5kg? Sounds good to me, I just paid £5.60 for a 1.1kg parcel :(

Its ok but i think it was time for me to use parcel2go or parcel monkey as more people are starting using them. Just ordered a collection from City Link for £9.16 so i'm saving a few bob :)

parcel monkey get 10/10 from me. i have used them alot and they have never let me down.

i have used parcel2go also and they lost 2 of my items in 1 week !!! took them an age to pay out on the insurance as well.

the tossers offered me a p2go credit note at first. for the value of the goods they lost. i declined and had to wait 1 month for a cheque to arrive in the post.

i won't use them again ever:nono::nono:
