P5Q-E or any P5Q's

Tbh I think my Q6600 is a bit poor in the overclocking area really. So I gave up on it and I just put in my e8200 and its also refusing to overclock very well. Failing at 3.6ghz... which for an E8200 is pretty much garenteed most of the time.

So I just wondered if anyone knows of or has expirience using certain settings in the P5Q boards that can make a lot of difference to overclocking?

Thanks.

what fsb are you trying to hit? you might want to try bumping up the northbridge voltage a little. Let us know how it goes!

Its not that as Ive bheen running 400fsb with 8 multi. And im simply bumping up the multi to 9.

Just tried 3400 and a little lower tho with 9 multi and cant even hit that... kinda annoying...

1.4v on nb makes no difference.

i don't think its the fsb limiting it, my m8 has a p5qe and got 500 mhz fsb without upping nb voltage, got to 555 "i think" upping voltage to 1.2v, try disabling any settings in bios u don't need and maybe enable voltage dampener i think its called that.

noticed u upped voltage on nb to 1.4v, i believe the p45 chip set uses a smaller transistors size than p35 and has a limit for the nb volts, don't take my word for it but do a lil research, this can be the cause of unstable oc, try leaving that at stock until u reach 470-500 mhz fsb.

I changed it back to 1.2v but no luck : ( however that info will probably be useful for any future overclocking so thanks : )
