Overheating issue

Hello folks,

I have a large problem with over heating, so let me start with the basic issue.

I have a Geforce BFG Tech. 8800 GTX OC 2 - fan cooled. I have a large case with 4 Thermaltake Cyclo 120mm fans. and a Pentium D 3.0GHz duel core with a CNPS9500A-LED Aero Flower Cooler.

However when I play CPU/GPU intensive games like Bioshock and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory my CPU over heats, which is due to the graphics card over heating it. So I figure I need some water cooling for both my GPU and CPU, too cool them both down. I was thinking of getting the Zalman Resenator XT Black. see link;

However it costs around £250 which is quite expensive, Though it's a very good model I believe. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

Are you running on stock intel cooler?

Plus, how do you know the CPU is overheating?

No I am running on a Zalman CNPS9500-LED

And Intel Desktop Utlities on my system tray is giving me alerts saying that the cpu is overheating.

I recommend using Coretemp.. A much better program for monitoring temps.

Have you tried re-seating the heatsink? New thermal paste?

There is no need for water cooling unless you love to overclock sky high.

That Zalman should be able to deal with the heat.

So either the software is lieing or you need to sort out the connection between heatsink and CPU.

I've been doing some research and found out that the Pentium D has an average idle temp. of 50º. While the Quad core Q and duel core E are around 30-35º. So im splashing out on a new processor.

Whatever floats your boat mate. It is an older processor so it will run hotter than newer chips..

Doesn't mean is is broken. Plus it will be designed to take the extra heat.
