Hi unknown,

Overclocking is the process of taking your hardware above and beyond the speed that it is rated to run at.

In order to find out if you are able to overclock your machine, we would need to know your motherboard make/model. If you do not know tis information, CPU-Z from www.cpuid.com might tell us more.

oh thx and 1 more thing

wont overdclocking ur comp have bad results??

If done correctly (which is why we are here) it will give you very good results. Its a free speed increase - and if you are overclocking only a small amount, it will have no negative effects on the life of your components.

i dont quite understand you saying that you have a p41.3 and an amd processor. which one are you using/trying t overclock?

MOTHERBOARD

MANUFACTURER>>ASUS

model>>> A7V-ML 1.09

chipset >> VIA KT133 REV: 81

southbridge>> VIA VT82C686

sensor>> VIA 686A/B

well thats all the info on motherboard need anything else just ask

Is your pc retail, if so, you're screwed. If not you may be able to do something with a ram upgrade if your bios supports ocing. Personally, I'd get a new system. That thing sounds years behind.

Well men, in real, i think that your Motherborar isn´t so stable to do an OC.

First check if in your BIOS you can change the FSB and the multip. factor, if yes, maybe you could do some small overclock. But in your MOBO, i don´t recommend for good OC, and you couldn´t do big OC too, because this MOBO isn´t fot OC.

Try to see the bios features, if you can change Vcore, FSB and mult. factor, you could do small OC :P

exactly how would i do this (i m still a lil slow)

and ps the computer will be 3 years old next month

also

bios brand is Phoenix Technologies LTD

FSB is at 100.0 MHZ

MULTIPLIER AT X13.0

hope that helps too

The BIOS is accesible during POST (when the PC starts up) usually it says something on the screen like "Press DEL to enter Setup", though the keys and the name vary. Typical ones are

F1

F2

DEL

Just press all of these when you start up, surely one will get you into the BIOS... (doesn't ASUS use DEL?) :D

press DELETE repeatedly wen your computer is starting up. this will let you access the BIOS. find an option such as "advanced chipset feaatures" and in here try to find FSB. changing the FSB is overclocking in its most basic form.

if you do not have nay of these options then you may have a locked motherboard. if you computer is pre built, (which it sounds like) then you wont have these options and it is worth considering building your wn computer to overclock with.

You'd love having a "non-store" system though. I recommend Abit or again, Asus for motherboard choice since I know both of these provide extensive tweaking options in most circumstances. You can never get bored with too much to tweak :P

well unknow... first, try to maintain the factor by 15x and Up the FSB.. from 100.. uping from minimal values... try to put 133.... save and restart your pc, load windows and use sometime.. if the things go normal... restart and enter to bios again.. do this until your PC don´t work with certain FSB.. then you will know that is your limit.

the another opion is to low the factor from 15x to 12,5 (if your MOBO permit), and then UP FSb to 133. the clock will not be up, but the.. how i can explain, "performance" from processor will be better.

i don´t recomendo to do more agressive OC, your MOBO will not suport :P

ok 1 last question before i do this

what should i change the FSB too?

hahaha the most famous question of all. You need to just increase the fsb by 2 everytime , save the settings and restart. keep doing untill your machine freezes. then you know you have hit your "wall" This is a dafe option but can take some time to complete.
