Overclocking n00b advice

Nice to see that you found a solution !!! :-)

Yeah its nice to finally understand the issue. Just annoyed its gonna take a couple of days to remendy and until then i have no computer access as had to take the cpu out, clean it up, repackage it and box it up for collection in the morning. Even though its amazons screw up, i have this weird feeling that they're gonna play up and drag their heels over the refund (good job i payed by paypal, so at least have some tools at my disposal).

So for now its browsing and replying by phone browser lol

that's what i'm doing since I don't have my pc ready yet !! I'm so bored of this !!! :S

Bah! I'm glad this has been sorted, as i really couldn't work out what the issue was!

Surprised that you got the processor up to 4.1GHz tbh.

yeah considering its only really supposed to go to x39 it is rather random,

but, i suppose it could show the board can overclock a chip better than its supposed to go lol

also i should have really picked up on this earlier seeing as it was 3.4ghz stock instead of 3.5.

its amazing sometimes that simple discrepancies are so easily missed.

i mean noone else noticed in the screengrab there was an issue, so i'm glad it wasn't just me who didn't pick up on this, proves we're all human lol

I guess it was just one of those things that no one thought to check, as it seemed so unlikely to have happened! Never heard of Amazon making a mistake such as this

Still, I've had nothing but amazing experiences with Amazon returns, so I am sure that you'll get it rectified soon.

the interesting thing is i google shoppered i7 3770k and used the amazon link provided to buy the processor, just repeated the process and the same link i used now directs to a 3770 non k cpu.

so 1: they've corrected the page title when it loads as it said 3770k when i purchased hence why i bought it (£229 was an amazing price and now, in hind-sight, rightly so)

2: they haven't updated the google shopper link to the item so i can replicate the issue, which could be interpreted as false advertising on google shopper.

3. i payed via paypal so i have tools at my disposal, should they try to play hardball

hopefully they won't but time will tell

Did try that lol. Pushed the blk to 10350, with no issues for 4.2345ghz. (didn't try higher)

But i paid for a 3770k so its going back regardless lol

grrr the frickin asshats at yodel have failed epically to collect the return parcel.

their total ineptitude knows no bounds.

now they're gonna get it with both barrels in the morning

quick update.

9pm came last night, no yodel courier turned up (ALL DAY) to collect the 3770 to return it to amazon.

rang yodel today to find out why noone arrived, spent 15minutes on hold, then they cut me off.

SOOOOOO.....

I rang amazon and absolutely kicked off a stink over yodels unprofessional, discourtious and downright lazyness, to which effect i have had a massive apology from amazon and they have arranged for city link to come out and pick up the cpu instead.

in the middle of all this malais, i got a text off my father, to let me know that aria have delivered the 3770k and its ready to be picked up as and when i have time (happy days).

all i need now is to get the 3770 back to amazon and get my refund so my bank account looks a little healthier and get the "proper" cpu in the rig and get it oc'd lol

really nice !!! But how many days will this take ???

well 3770k is installed and all is good,

within 5 minutes i had a very stable 4.55Ghz (44 x 10350) and ddr3 running happily @2133Mhz

when i'm not busy i may take a look as to how good my silicon lottery pick has been
