Overclocking an i7 930 on UD3R

Any help? Would love to reach the 4GHz barrier, but I hear it can go even further on air than the 920. What settings and what not would I need?

Never OC'd on a Gigabyte board, and never messed around really with voltages and stuff.

200BCLK is about the limit from the versions Ive had, but you do have the multis to play. i7 clocking is a doddle tbh

Ooh ooh! It seems Gigabyte themselves have invented a guide, althought it is for i7 920 on the slightly older GA-EX58 as opposed to the GA-X58A model you (and soon to be I) have I can't really see it being massively different.

You can find the tutorial here.

Hope it works dude, as I'll likely use that myself when I'm home again.

I have the same MB and CPU and I run my rig at these settings below when I want to bench, but for standard use I just run at stock.

21x200, vcore at 1.35V, QPI at 1.30V, Ram at 1.65V, Uncore frequency 3200Mhz, QPI frequency 3600Mhz, PCI-E at 101Mhz, ICH at 1.20V, Ram at 1600Mhz =4.2ghz

My 920 is running solid at 4.01Ghz at 21x191mhz and a voltage 1.33 appox. i know the 930 is very similar in its clocking but its down the the chip u have u may have a shite or amazingclocker or a stadard 4.2ghz reachable 930. hear is a screeny for anyone interested.

Yeah it does. I had it at 4GHz for a while but I've throttled it back to 3GHz now because when I went through all my games with Fraps the framerates were the same. I don't really do anything else on here at the moment so I have no need to put it back up. It's more for future reference.

Four gigahertz on air is not difficult. I'd recommend to google for a tutorial and just set all the voltages as the maker of the tutorial does and if that fails at let's say four gigahertz then up the voltages for the CPU and try again. Keep trying until you find something stable. But don't go insane on the voltages. Know when to stop. :P
