overclockers UK reivew

So in a nutshell then buying individual parts from OCUK maybe okay but a whole system seems to have issues when being transported or built.
Myself I build my own but I understand how frustrating it is when you get a faulty product, maybe try somewhere else?
Aria have cheap systems or decent systems depending on what you want.:)

LIKE I SAID EARLIER IN THE THREAD; slandering an entire company based off one customers experience with them is stupid.

+1 the most annoying RMA experience I've had is with Scan and the best Overclockers. However I'll still use both companies as I put it down to
"sh*t happens". Just my opinion though.

Best I've had was ebuyer where they just sit around all day and accept every RMA given to them and send you a new one out with next day delivery...

I've heard some horror stories about Scan and motherboards.

Never properly used Overclockers.

I use Aria now, but have fortunately not had to return anything.

I've brought parts from Scan,OcUK,Aria and even Play all of them have had great customer service.Scan & OcUK ringing me to tell me parts are out of stock and delivery would be delayed.OcUK actually recommended a better part at cheaper price and ive seen loads of reviews where OcUK have give back refunds to people who have brought items 2 days before it goes on sale and they get refunded the difference.
At the end of the day they could of blamed the buyer for breaking the pc but they replaced it 3+ times then gave you a refund

Slightly off topic but my best experience with a computer company was Gladiator Computers (I'm guessing its the Aria owned brand - if someone can confirm this please do). Many moons ago I ordered a cheapish £45 Antec case. I never signed for it but when I got back and unpacked it the big hole in the box leading to the enormous dent in the case had me to calling them immediately. Within a few hours someone from the company drove over and swapped out the case with a new one. I think they were in Derby. My memory isn't the best these days lol (to Grantham). That sort of service kept my custom for a good while.

Sucks to read about your experience OP, but you're not alone.

I've used OCUK for two purchases in recent'ish' times (oct 2012) for a MSI HAWK 7870 and Microlabs SOLO6C speakers. The MSI card runs fine, no problems, but one of the speakers was damaged on arrival with a bass driver cone visibly split from centre to the edge like a broken egg shell. On receipt of delivery the box was tatty and visibly bashed so I signed for receiving parcel with damaged packaging.

[Curious: The GPU was delivered just in its retail box with bubble wrap taped around it, is that normal?]

However that made not one blind bit of difference when I RMA'd them they stated they worked fine. Sure they turn on and can output noise; but with one speaker so audibly broken it was torture. I had to wedge the cone so it no longer reverberates to high heaven and that had 'mostly' got rid of the issue.... so I can conclude either I don't know something about speakers or OCUK simply couldn't give two cow pats and charged me for the pleasure.

Around Nov 2012 I purchased goods from eBuyer, mainly parts for a new rig (mb/ram/cooling etc). The packaging was pristine on arrival, properly boxed & packed and everything worked! Having used them before, including RMA, with very satisfactory service I can trust them that my goods will work or be replaced without much stress.

I like OCUK for the sheer amount and variation of goods they sell but I sure as hell don't trust or like their RMA and courier service. It has really hampered me from then on going to buy delicate goods from OCUK. Personally if they changed or gave choice of courier I could be tempted to buy parts from them again, but for now its just peripherals/non-crucial stuff since they still do products most other places don't

short version: Similar experience as OP, can empathise with the OP in regard to RMA service. Questionable courier service used.

well that's a... not very positive "review".

If anyone was to ask me for a opinion for Overclockers then id give them 5/5 anytime, good prices, good staff, never had problems

AND

most importantly last 2 items i bough i got a £10 wine voucher and a pack of harribo's :D that makes it one of best retailers imho.

I have had issues with Overclockers.co.uk simply put I was banned twice for taking faulty items back to them.

Everytime I took something back that was faulty or broken to the point it didn't work anymore they just simply, came back to me saying there was no fault found and it worked fine.

1st time I was banned was because I took my brother in law to them, to return faulty items.

One of the items was a PSU that went pop and you could smell it had gone bang and the fan would not spin up on it or anything, unyet according to them it was fine and there was nothing wrong.

Another item was the ram which failed a Memtest+ test within the 1st 30 seconds, tested on another board after testing the ram that was in it already so I knew the slots were not faulty and neither was the ram in my system, but with his ram in my system it failed again.

The next was a graphics card that was giving artifacts in windows and games, and I showed a picture of the issue to the manager at that time, and he said the card was faulty and to return it to where I bought it from, so I got the box out of the car and handed it over, they went away and tested it saying nothing was wrong.

Over the space of 3 day's I must have driven to them and back home around 20 times, and each time regardless of what happened with the pc they always said everything was fine.

Eventually they said the items were faulty and then banned me and my brother in law for returning faulty items.

2nd time I was banned because I took a faulty board back to them, and they said there was nothing wrong but I only took it back because I had tested everything else in another pc, to make sure that the board was problem.

I asked to see it being tested and they instantly banned me on the spot, and when I asked why I was being banned again for returning a faulty item to them, they basically said I was being disruptive although I had remained calm and never raised my voice.

This time though I had to laugh because other customers in the store just looked shocked, especially the one customer who was there already when I got there and he could not believe it and asked for a refund of all the stuff he had just bought, because in his words he couldn't feel safe spending that much money only to risk being banned if something was faulty, and he saw I was not aggresive or anything.

I will say before those experiences OCUK were amazing and I recommended them to everyone because they always offered advice, and were always very cheap etc and I had never had a issue with them.

I now only use Scan because I can see stuff being tested, and I have returned quite a few things that have gone faulty and never once had a issue with them.

The simple thing is each person has there own experience with shop's, and if someone has a bad experience it will taint that shop forever, my bad experience was OCUK for others it's Scan or another.

Well I love OCUK, I got my Sapphire 7970 from them for 199 :P grand opening ftw! got a pair of intel 330 120gb ssds for 98 quid too :D not to mention other bits!

i got most of my old parts from ocuk only had 1 issue and they sorted it next day. my thermalright true black when i first got it was bent and one of the heat pipes was completly broken off i called them and they sent a replacement and picked up the broken one next day for free and gave me 2 case fans for the inconvenience.

overall my experience's with them have been pleasant also at the time dont know if they still do but spend over £50 and they gave me free delivery.

Also if you have more than 250 posts on their forums or registered over than 10 months , you`re entitled for free next day delivery (saturday too!) by far the best ive used in UK.

I used OCUK for my media Centre PC components; I had a lot of issues yet they replaced 'em.

I can't fault the customer service I had.

JUDGE A COMPANY on how it handles stuff when it goes wrong, not on the fact it arrived working as it should; in an instance like that, you don't really get to experience customer service.

It seems to me like you had great customer service. Customer Service is what happens when stuff goes wrong.

I've only had good experiences with OCUK. I bought a system from them a few years ago which has since found a home in my mates place. By all accounts the i7 930 is still chomping away at the bit.

I recently (last 6 months or so) order a mobo from them and then changed my mind after I'd ordered it. They were helpful on the phone and allowed me to order a 2nd mobo and return the first one without any problems. The refund was quick and service efficient.

It's so nice to deal with people that speak the same language as well. I had a nightmare with hardwareversand.de recently. 4 months to RMA some ram! God I wish I'd just sent it back to the manufacturer...

That's the reason why you should always do it yourself, other people probably don't care as much about it as you. I was only looking through some of their reviews, was way too much kids stuff like consoles, smartphones and tablets, none of that really interests me.

That's mostly because Caseking took over a while back and things have changed there.

I bought a rebadged 6970 Lightning for a good price and it died. Set up an RMA with them and they basically started quoting nonsense about testing fees and etc if they can't replicate the problem.

Ended up going back to MSI directly myself..

I buy nearly all of my computer parts from Amazon now as they have fantastic customer service. They send a courier and pay for it. I had a planer for 18 months and they refunded me haha. Not that planers have much to do with computers, but Amazon don't care what it is. Top notch customer service and they call you for free so there's no 087x numbers. They're very competitive with computer part prices too :)

I have alot of stuff from them. I bought a Asus 6950 Direct CUII next day delivery no problem also Bought a Asus Crosshair V Formula and a MSI Mpower z77 motherboard too They are amazing in my eyes. One thing I only buy from them if they have offers because they can be abit expensive other than that a good company. Also I buy my pc parts at Scan.co.uk ebuyer.co.uk

recieving a faulty mobo is one of those things that can happen,I have a dead Z77 GD65 to prove it :)
I know i'm new to this site and overclocking in general, my system build will be ready by money as part need to arrive on thursday namely the COSMOS 2 and ASUS SABERTOOTH X79 (LGA2011).
Point being I guess I was going to get that exact motherboard, it already arrived until i read a review and scan technitions told me the RAM and ethernet quickly disposes of any heat combatants i.e. msi is nowhere near ASUS or Gigabyte technology admitidley the ASUS X9Z79 Pro would have been a better choice for watercooling.
but going back on topic Aria.co.uk have always given me good business and quickly respond to any issues.

I regularly buy from OcUK. Never had an issue yet.

Someone said earlier in the thread that they don't use RM for deliveries. I can assure you they do as I've had smaller bits and pieces (cables, screws etc) via RM from them. It's likely that for the larger items DPD is cheaper than RM and as a lot of their postage is likely to be free due to spending over a certain amount and/or forum member loyalty scheme then why would they offer a more expensive carrier when it's them paying for it.

For me too, the customer service has been exemplary. I bought a H100i. It failed after 3 days however as Corsair customers will know, if something fails within the first 28 days of purchase, Corsair request that you contact Corsair so they can deal with it direct, despite UK legislation stating that the store is responsible.
I posted about my misfortune on the forum, mentioning Corsair had asked for me to deal direct and were dealing with it. A CS rep contacted me and asked if there was anything they could do, eg pay for the returns postage etc (which Corsair had already offered and covered). Further to this, the same rep emailed me 3 more times during the RMA process to check that things were still going ok.

Never have I ever had a company actively take an interest like that.

Definately agree with 'Resident' had a Corsair H100 (to clarrify not H100i) and it never failed on me, either I didn't push the rig to its full potential or your Corsair was a simply radiator flaw which is a problem in the 240's.
One issue if Corsair are bring out a further upgrade from the H100/H100i) model is the depth of the radiator and maybe the tube thickness as both the radiator grills are spaced close together and the tubing could have been thicker but for the price its not a bad purchase for around £100.
Only for the rad. depth and tubing I give it 9/10
