Now we all have our own rules to build, mod or OC to and I thought it would be good idea for us to share them especially for the new members to pick up from and get some insight into how we think.
I'm talking PC related rules to work or live by, after watching TTL on the "How many Watts do you actually need" he states "Don't skimp on your PSU", now this is a excellent piece of advice and something I learned pretty quick when I first signed up here at OC3D.
Our member rules.
If its worth doing, do it once - tinytomlogan
When OC'ing, patience makes sense there is nothing to be gained from rushing apart from more BSODs and the possibility of fried hardware. - Wraithguard
When modding cases as is my new interest the age old "measure twice cut once" is my top rule. - Wraithguard
Buy cheap buy twice - iBeInspire
If you like it, buy it! - MaddenShadow
Never just follow one piece of advice. Ask around, read up and make your own decision. - barnsley
Buy cheap buy twice and do your research. - SavageCupcake
Research, research, research Always try to go what's best for you, rather than pushing far beyond your budget. Invest in a nice case so you don't have to worry for the next few builds, always read up on psu's rather than picking one randomly. Hmmm what else.... - Squidlorock
Make sure your screws aren't too long for your radiator. - Remmy
Forget the benchmarks it's the games that count. Save money on things that don't matter like super speedy RAM and spend it on things that do matter like the GPU.
A system is only as good as its weakest component, so don't go powering £500 worth of GPU with a £20 PSU. - Davva2004
Never use other peoples OC settings. - QuietOne
More intake than outtake fans, positive pressure = cleaner rig. - SPS
"The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten." - Sir Henry Royce (or Aldo Gucci, or Nash... IDK) - JR23
Get a Dremel, a proper Dremel, learn to use it properly and don't be afraid of it... It will pay off. - SuB
1) KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid
2)PPPPP: Poor Preparation= Piss Poor Performance! - Excalabur50
Less can be more - especially when we are talking hose and cables! - tinytomlogan
Don't disseminate dogma. - Mr. Smith
Check the basket multiple times to save on unnecessary shipping fees. - SparkleDJackson
1: Measure twice cut once..
2: You can always take more off but you can't add more on.. - Antony1995
Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance - Wraithguard
I'm real interested to see what others have to add to this.
Oh and lets not also forget the main oversight that is that Google is your friend!
