ordering a gpu today, what to choose ?

I finally got myself some money for a gpu but I can only spend €200.

I tought of buying a gigabyte 6850 with a factory overclock (€190+shipping)(http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3630#ov)

i can't go nvidia with ma mobo

so i'm just wondering if for my budget and mobo there is a better option ?

system specs:

mobo: as rock 890 extreme 3

cpu : phenom 2 X4 B45 at 3.4gHz

size of the card(s) doesnt matter my case is big enough

I can't go nvidia because my motherboard has an integrated ati gpu + my pc is black and blue themed so a blue gpu would look good aswell

If you don't want to go NVidia, I would suggest a HIS 6870 (has a blue and black sticker

). Its 210€.

Otherwise I don't see why you should not be able to use a NVidia with your motherboard.

What's that got to do with the price of fish? The onboard video can be disabled from the bios.

The Hawk, IIRC, is like a silvery anodized blue with a black PCB IIRC. Buying a card because of the colour is insane lol.

If you post a link to where you buy from I will have a poke around and see what's good for the coins.

no beoordelen means rate not order or stg they show these green bars so they are all in stock, whats wrong with the 6850 ? clock speeds are better, sth with shaders ? (srry really not into the whole pc scene yet)

6850 is absolute rubbish compared to a good 1gb 460 mate. Ignore the clock speeds they don't count for squat.

You can SLI in any motherboard with two or more PCIE slots, we've had this discussion a million times..

k i'll buy a gtx460 but it better work

looked up some comparisons, 3dmark wise they're almost identical but 460 is 20% better in fps

Mate honestly the 460 will crap on a 6850. It will give the 6870 a bloody good run for its money too IMO.

You need to remember.. the 6850 wasn't even on par with the 5850. It was around the same as a 5830

The 6870 wasn't on par with the 5870 by a long bloody shot, and sat between the 5850 and 5870.

The 6 series have been numbered and named to confuse you. Honestly I really hate to accuse AMD of that but that's exactly what they did. Not every one has the time needed to spend days researching it all, and that's what they rely on when they do things like that. They rely on people seeing the new card, seeing the number, thinking "ZOMG a 6850 ! better than a 5850 and what a great price ! and it must be better because it's newer !".

Not so.

And before the ATI/MD fan boys come along to shoot me down yes, I am fully aware of Nvidia's recent rebranding skankathon. I saw so many people bin their 8800GT to rush out and buy a 9800GT only to find it was identical. And the 250GTS being a rebranded 9800GTX+ etc etc. They're all at it. At least with the 4/5 series Nvidia don't really even have enough cards to start rebranding... Yet...

As for it not working? I still cry BS tbh. A PCIE slot is an industry standard PCIE slot. Nothing more, nothing less. Crossfire and SLI? well yes, that is dependent on chipset. However, the SLI patch basically fools Windows into thinking you are running an X58 chipset and allows both Crossfire and SLI to work on the same board with a selection screen. Whether or not it would allow Crossfire on an SLI board? I don't know, but that's beside the point any way.

There is also another benefit from the GTX460 , it Folds much faster then the Ati card

but that's only if you are into F@H ...
