What GPU to add to a A10 7700k??

Like the title says:

I can get a dirt cheap A10 7700k and so what GPU is a good mix for this CPU? It would be on a low/mid range MOBO and be used for light gaming. Yes, I could use the on board graphics but I want a GPU to go with it.

Depends, you could find a matching GPU to the CPU and put them in CrossfireX or you could get a single, better GPU, but then you might as well save yourself some money and pick up an 860k instead.

i wouldn't use anything higher than a 270/960 with that APU tbh.
APU CF or hybrid crossfire is pretty awful for microstuttering and then when you get a game that dosent work with CF you will be left with a low power gpu.

If you are getting the A10 APU, it wouldn't make sense to get an Nvidia GPU. You'd be better off with the 270/270x. Honestly it's probably better to get the 860k or an Intel G3258 and use the saved money towards a single more powerful GPU. It would get more performance for the same amount of money

That makes no sense? If he's gonna go with a 270x, it's because it's faster than the 750 Ti, not because he's using an APU? Considering you can't use the GPU on the APU anyway unless it's an R7 240 and you want to run it in CrossfireX.

But then again, you'd be better off with a single, more powerful solution such as the R7 270 or a 750 Ti / 950 and you can probably get an 860k somewhere for cheaper (although I don't know what price you can get the 7700k at) as it is the exact same CPU, but without the GPU built into it and at a lower TDP cause obviously the GPU is missing :)

The budget is just cheap, but I want the best suitable GPU for this CPU. Just mid range games, not even on 1080p. 720p or less.

Its for a mate on a budget, he all ready has the MOBO.

I'd probably go either 7700k + 250 in CrossfireX for the cheapest possible option if you can pick up the 7700k for the price of the 860k.

Otherwise 860K + 260(x).

I guess the answer is this. If i will use a discrete GPU then the 860k. If not then 7700k alone with high speed memory.

Heyyo,

Tbh I'd recommend an NVIDIA GPU since they have less CPU overhead in their drivers. It'll make a difference right now but in Dx12 might not be the case... but by 2016 a really low end GPU of today might struggle.

Also consider the fact that Digital Foundry used an i3-4130... a much beefier CPU than the A10 7700K.
