Okay, so I got the game a few days ago, and so far it seems nice enough.
Just a few rather big problems problems though.
-Even with view distance turned up to full, some AI enemies seem to be able to nail you with full auto rifle fire from about 900 meters away, sometimes when they're even beyond draw distance (wtf?)
- The game just doesn't FEEL like operation flashpoint. It's like they made the game a sandbox arcade shooter in order to appease the legions of COD fans out there. mixing massive environments with arcade like gameplay results in teams of human players taking potshots at each other from over a kilometer away whilst the AI players bumble around aimlessly, ignoring orders, and generally making a mess by being blown up constantly.
- the XP system seems flawed. so far, after 9 hours playing, I have six XP. I don't know what it was given for, but I do know that even if I get upwards of 60 kills in a match and complete all objectives assigned by squad leaders, i get none. so bugger that.
- Lag on multiplayer is horrible. even when I have around 60 ping, I'll find my character not carrying out actions, only to RAEG in frustration when he simultaneously tries to duck, crouch, reload, switch weapons and chuck a grenade about 60 seconds later, when I'm in the middle of a firefight.
-vehicles are horrible. they handle like motorised irons, and the physics engine seems to have no issue with throwing them 20 feet in the air when you hit a pothole. they're also horribly rendered and textured, and there are ZERO damage effects.
- The graphics are a little disappointing. It's nice that I can play the game on full settings, but a little crappy that a game I'm supposed to find realistic and gritty looks more cartoonish and childish than say, COD world at war.
- the weapon load outs are horribly balanced, I can't think of one weapon class in which the americans don't dominate.
Any one else got anything to add to this games obvious flaws, or even got a counterargument?
:wavey:
