On board audio problems

I am using an Asus sabertooth X58 mother board.

I am experiancing a problem with the on board audio. When I first boot up my computer the audio works, however as soon as I plug in my headset, or unplug it if the computer booted up with them plugged in, the audio no longer works even if I replace the audio jacks.

Has anyone else experiance this problem before?

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers? Have you tried using speakers?

I have an Asus laptop which has some weird power saving function and some audio software. If it's in battery saving mode, the jacks don't work. Maybe your mobo has some similar features/problems?

sounds to me more like a shorting issue than a software issue but its a good place to start

Sounds like a driver issue. Sabertooth uses Realtek, they are known for being the crappiest drivers ever made.

A lot of the current boards use Realtek though. Unless you have a dedicated sound card, you can't really run away from the onboard sound right?

You could go USB digital sound, or through your video card via HDMI.

Oh right....thanks for pointing that out.

If the onboard fails, just disable the onboard sound from BIOS and maybe Eru could try using a USB sound card. That can be an option too?
