Oldness FTW

Just at my folks cleaning outs some storage and came across these.

One of my first component purchases. TNT2 32mb

And an old AMD K6 circa 1998.

Thermal paste was still good too despite corrosion around the case frame indicating less than ideal storage.

Many a good memory of my little beige box. Playing Mechwarrior 2 and first steps on the internet with IRC and ICQ last century.
Time flies hey.

Jesus. Not seen one of those things in many years. The poor man's Pentium lol.

Last time I fitted a CPU like that was a pair of Pentium Pro. With ram that pre dated SDram.

When I was clearing out my wife's old place I found a PC in the out buildings. It was an ISA based DXII rig. Never bothered to try and revive it though. Sadly the damp had gotten to it and the entire inner chassis was rusty. Really couldn't see it firing up so didn't bother. Plus I would have needed an AT keyboard and serial mouse.

Hey Jim have you played Mech Warrior Online? If not you should give it a go and we can have a round or three together.
On topic those TNT cards were the bomb for there time

Yeah I got on the beta (or early release it was a couple of years ago) but Tanks got the better of my gaming time. I'd love to get back into it and see how it runs. If I can remember my login details!

LOL = Last visit: 12/08/12 ok so where did that time go??

I also played the original MechWarrior back in the mid 90s? That and Wing Commander 3 were my staples. MW3 and the expansions were good but too with the Clan mechs.

Yeah Loved the old TNT. Also pulled a nice soundblaster card out. They used to be the go to for audio. Now they're nearly redundant. I have a Xi-Fi sitting on my desk as I didn't put it back in after my Win10 install. I need a bigger desk so I can have a Magni/Modi setup.

@Alien - Yeah was tempted to fire it up but the PSU looked dodgy and I knew I'd end up spending all day playing with it instead of clearing out the old stuff :D

@Excalibur downloading now :)

Awesome my game name is the same as my forum name and make sure you play the new tutorial for MWO as from a mate of mine who's played all the Mech games there are lots of changes
I've been playing MWO for awhile now and I totally love it and hope you do too
And yes the old Soundblaster cards were great so were the Monster audio cards

I wish I had a couple of those cards here . I have a ton of old hardware i tinker with weekly here in my office. Just finished a Pentium Pro 200 Win95b build with USB support last week or the week before. :D

MWO just didn't really impress me like mech3 did. I think I own every version except for the original Mechwarrior, will have to double check.

Have you seen it since all the changes and they will be releasing on steam very soon now, they announced the date I just cant remember it lol but it improves all the time

I found out I had backed it as a founder. When I logged in I have all these mechs lol.
Is a bit strange so far. Not as easy with HOTAS as I would have liked. Seems to be made to be driven with keyboard and mouse. Not that I've played with the sensitivity settings yet. Just harder to be precise. (I'm doing the training atm)

I'll see how much postage is to Texas. You might be in luck.

That would be cool Jimma, let me know what you need if anything.
Might drop that into my WIN95b build. They need an old hardware section for us hardware hoarders :D

Yeah I know it's a current hardware kinda site but a bit of nostalgia doesn't hurt.

Looks like it will cost me about $20.00 to send. I'll check to see if it works first.
