And what about the fact that just about every server room in every company is filled with Intel chips.

Also, Intel has many other profitable entities that would prevent Intel from going under, and probably pay for Intel to develop new chips from the ground up if the world ever did decide to do a massive Intel => AMD switch.

Furthermore, dont forget that AMD has not long managed to get itself out of serious financial difficulties. There was a time a few years back when it almost colapsed.

actually frag i should correct you, intel had thr own 64 bit architecture but microsoft forced amd and intel to choose only 1 to use because x64 was not going to support both, seeing as amd released thrs already, intel didnt have much of a choice (and EMT was prob better)

I heard that MS looked at both architectures and recommended that AMD's was better designed

OK, there's the 570 and the 670, both 3.8GHz. There's the 530 and the 630 that you can just overclock and get better results anyway

I don't think u interpreted his statement correctly but I may be wrong... When he refers to the rest being absolute crap I don't think he's referring to the other processor's, he's referring to what Intel has going for them, and that's raw Ghz.

Correct me if I'm wrong ionicle but that's how i interpreted it.

Intel = May have fastest proccy, but the core is SO inneficient. If it was as an efficient core as amd's venice, etc, AMD would be kicked down and shot.

Umm, sort of Intel does. AMD's dual core procs really whoop Intels. Also AMD isn't very far behind in single core testing, except for gaming.

All they see is...

AMD = 2 +/- ghz

Intel = 3.4 +/- ghz

If u were an un-intelligent n00b shopping for a new computer, what would u take? Yes, that's right, the Intel because it has a larger number which to a n00b = faster That's how Intel stays alive.
