Official OC3D Fallout 4 Thread

Try double tapping V or scrolling to go into third and back into first person mode, your gun should appear.

I do have the game on my mechanical drive, with a 256GB SSD I cannot afford to put all my games on it.

Dogmeat is annoying me more than anything. I love dogs but all he does is run off to enemies when I am trying to be stealthy, block my way when I try to run through a door for cover and then get shot and use all my Stimpacks to not let him die.

And then when I try to collect ammo off dead enemies HE GETS IN THE WAY AGAIN AND I CAN'T PICK ANYTHING UP.

I never spent not even one stimpack on dogmeat lol, he's gonna sit on his paws and whine for a minute and then he's back at it so there is no point really, he's a diversion only and a mule to carry my stuff.
I would get rid of him but I got the lone wolf perk or whatever is it called to get extra carry and less dmg taken and apparently dogmeat doesn't count as a companion.

Do you guys put any time in your settlements?:D

I've got some pretty sweet weapons mods where I am in the game now. For instance, the last Deathclaw I encountered I killed without the help of the Minigun or any Power Armor. :D

And with most of the sneak perks I can play it just how I like, sneaking around the place and taking pot shots at everybody with silenced weapons.

I did find out that I can't get 60 FPS on my 760. I didn't expect it to run maxed out (despite it, tbf, looking pretty mediocre for a 2015 game) but there is no difference in my FPS at all with God Rays maxed out, or completely off and AA on 8 instead of 16.

Also, in for instance GTA if there are frame drops to 35 FPS, it's annoying but playable, in Fallout 4 as soon as my FPS dips below 40 it's stutter everywhere and feels more like 15 FPS.

Yeah, I get the stutter too. I'm hoping that nVidia release a fix soon as I think its only currently with 7xx nVidia cards.

I'm running it at 1080p on a GTX 780 and an i7-6700k from an 850 250GB SSD. I don't have it totally maxed, there are like 2 settings (too lazy to check) on "High" instead of "Very High" or whatever it's called. I get 60fps pretty much everywhere, with the exception of some places in the centre of the city, there it seems to drop to the mid 40's.

It's definitely a game you'll notice when it drops below 60, but as long as it's relatively rare I'm pretty happy, but I do agree it can feel kind of stutter like. Just think of those poor console owners, where it runs at 30 by default and drops into the 20's in heavy scenarios. :D

Have been casually exploring the wasteland over the past week, but yesterday I decided to try the Cryolator bug, where you can get Dogmeat to retrieve it for you without busting the high level lock.

So I retuned home to Vault 111, where I found a nice new jumpsuit and a few friendly skeletons.

Upon reaching the Cryolator I figured out that Dogmeat didn't enter the vault with me, so sadly i couldn't get it :(.

No matter what I tried Dogmeat refused to fallow me inside, regardless of how many times I told him that there were plenty of scientist bones inside. Bethesda must have patched it in or something to stop the bug.

Anyone getting this famous 1st game-breaking bug? Where the game crashes in Monsignor Plaza? There's various reports, everything from save-file corruption to crashes, and apparently it can be reproduced across all platforms.

I just checked myself, apparently I've already been to that area and cleared it of raiders. No game breaking crash, I actually haven't had it crash on me yet. :p

I have been there if i fast travel to that spot i get a CTD but not if i just jog to that spot.

Man I really want to get into this game! Been waiting for it since 2010. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until they patch the key bindings so they can be unlocked and remapped properly (lefty here). I know, there's auto hot key, but I feel devs should implement this feature from the get go. I can wait, albeit just barely, I admit ha ha!

Don't have any pics atm, but this game has got me hooked. I'm level 18/19 right now, just about to enter the Institute.

Anyway, are there any good ways to get rid of Super Mutant Suiciders? Can you shoot the explosive he's carrying? I came across one today and I died repeatedly. Ended up just throwing a Nuka Grenade at him. Did the trick

blow there knee caps off stops em running and most of the time makes them explode into a massive mess with there buddies around them :D

edit: @wyp tell dogmeat to stay on the elevator platform activate the switch and run to dogmeat, open dialogue with him then close the lift will go down do not step off and dogmeat will be beyond the gate as it loads the level.

took me about 5 tries to get him there once inside keep telling dogmeat to "Go here" as he tends to wonder off once in the room open dialogue with him inside the cage and tell him to "fetch items"

Man!... am I really starting to fall in love with this game! I can just lose hours and hours just exploring. ^_^

Today I ventured out into the Glowing Sea for fun, given it's easily the coolest location in all of Fallout 3, New Vegas & 4. It's just so cool roaming and sneaking around the irradiated landscape in a Hazmat suit or Power Armor trying to avoid all the Deathclaws and Radscorpions.

After a while I found this random abandoned shack that looked relatively plain and boring. But after a bit of looking I found a hatch into what turns out to be a former secret government bunker with a story told of some of the last survivors there, and some some cool Enclave Power Armor for my troubles.

To me, I'd forgive the game any flaws for this kind of stuff given that really is the game at its best. ^_^

Zoot, any chance you could show this shack on a map? Sounds like an awesome find!

It's actually just called "Abandoned Shack", it's right down in the South-West corner of the map in the Glowing Sea, not too far from where you find the rogue Institute scientist. Check it out.

Last night I found another really interesting location. It was crazy place in a former car park with loads and loads of traps, with a nice stash of loot at the very end. The place was littered with arrow, and question mark signs, it was like something out of the Saw movies, and it wasn't marked on the map at all.

Exploring randomly really is just awesome in this game, Skyrim was the same too. ^_^

I've been having a go at this a little bit, I'm not sold "yet" you have a mission an important mission, get your son back... what actually happens is .....oooh coffee cup .....oooh tin can ......oooh another settler in need of help, what was I doing again.

Graphics wise, its no looker that's for sure if you dissable the bloom effects it's pretty much Skyrim with Fallout textures, game play pretty much the same as Skyrim and Fallout with the exception of the new crafting thing which is jerky as hell and takes an age to build something complete.

Enough ranting, i'm surprised to find I've knocked out 6 hours so far and I'm not bored but I never got bored of the other Bethesda titles either they seem to have a magnetic charm about them, then there is the matter of "I'll just check this place out" 1 hour later... Ooops maybe it's time to logout.

I haven't done much yet, met the minute men, found some armour, found a sniper rifle, set up the homested with power, food, beds & defenses, met 2 other groups and convinced them to join but I'll plug on some more. Probably end up nailing it all over Christmas.

Sometimes the graphics look absolutely awful. Sometimes when I am walking through the wasteland they look absolutely stunning. Sunset/rise looks excellent.

What I dislike the most is those horrible fuzzy radiation storms. They look poo.

Aside from that though I love the game. And I love how every now and then it ties itself to Fallout 3. Very clever :)

I gave up on the main quests as I got bored. Instead I've been digging around the game map to see what I can find.

There must have been some sort of underwater/waterworld esque element planned. There is no way they've made the seabed/wrecks that detailed for immersion. That harpoon gun also backs my point up.
