OC3D Server Changes

Hi Guys,

After all the problems we've been having with the website recently I've had to start from the ground up with the OC3D network and servers to try and work out all of the bugs.

If you're reading this message then it means you're viewing OC3D on the newly installed server, with new software, a new firewall and just about everything else 'NEW'.

Therefore, please let me know if you run into any problems, notice any slowdowns, get any errors...etc. Also let me know if it seems faster :)

will do, has it fixed the fast cgi error thingy or is that just me?:yumyum:

Yeah that was one of the main problems. The server was so overloaded it couldn't deal with all the requests so just started throwing out those annoying fascgi errors :)

I do need to test our firewall throughput still tho. I'm thinking of some competition to see who can refresh OC3D the most in 15 minutes

How about a group effort.

Get 10 people, maybe more maybe less, probably more, to refresh constantly for 15 mins at the same time. lol.

Jim, notice you've dropped Linux/Apache etc Firebug is the server is now "Microsoft-IIS/7.5" ? If so you using the new Server 2008 SP? Haven't had the courage yet to update our boxes :)

Time to prepare an quick evil c# app to deploy onto works servers for the competition. Is using a few dedicated boxes forbidden ;)?

Edit: went down for about 5 mins just as I was about to post this message ?

Yeppers, We've been shifting back and forth between Linux and Windows for a while. The other OC3D server is still based on Win2k3, but that's been running stable for so long I don't want anyone to so much as breathe in its direction :p

2008 R2 seems pretty nice so far. Will see how it goes over the next few weeks. If its no good I'm getting quite used to shifting everything over to new servers :p
