Me personally I will be waiting on IVY-E because I am looking for a serious long term build. I am hoping it wont let me down. Keep up the great work here at OC3D. Cheers from the States.

I'm sticking with what I got for now.......only upgraded to my i5-3570K not long ago, from a Phenom II 960T which unlocks and clocks to 3.9ghz really easy (which is now in my 2nd rig)

I'd be more than happy to stick with my 2500k for at least 3 or 4 more years before I decide to upgrade to a different socket

As much as I want to (and as much as that 6.2GHz rumored OC at 1.2V is enticing) I just don't think I'll have the funds about to do so. CPU and MB are behind a new case, PSU, GPU and SSD on the list of things to get sadly

Am I correct in assuming once Haswell is released then Sandy/Ivybridge hardware will come down in price?

If they do come down in price then I might just upgrade to a SB-E rig and be done with it. There isn't going to be any games that I can not max out with a 3930K and a 7870 Tahiti LE.

Doubt I'll upgrade my rig to Haswell from my 3570K, however I may see if I can afford to build a benching rig around a 4770K

I'll not be UPGRADING per say since I really like my desktop and want to keep it AMD, but I DO want to build a LAN party machine in a mITX form factor with Intel bits, and LGA 1150 is certainly screaming my name for that one. When prices normalize a bit.

If I came into money I'd be all over it. It would be nice to be playing with the latest and greatest again.

Can't see any reason for me to upgrade my 3570K (4.8GHz) for any of my gaming or even light video rendering needs. Can't see the price of any of Intel's chips coming down for a good while although I've noticed that it is a great time to pick up FX chips on the cheap.

That's not necessarily a no though - I'll certainly be building a few rigs with Haswell in mind and I'm keen to see how the 4770K and the 4820K compare.

Also looking forwards to seeing how Intel react to using TIM on IB and whether we will see soldering or TIM used once again.

Also I believe that overclocking on Haswell will be a little bit better (such introducing straps similar to how 2011 is setup now). I'm interested to see how that gets implemented.

In any case I am incredibly happy with my IB chip having de-lidded and watercooled it.

Im not to sure tbh, if i think about it LOGICALLY!! i havent even used my 3770K to its full potential its sitting here at 4.6GHz with f-all to do, its not so much about the money either, just cant warrent new mobo and cpu if im still only doing the same stuff which doesn't stretch my 3770k

As much as i like the look of all the new boards, ill only end up with a ROG series anyways...which isnt too different from my Formula now

While it'd not be for me as I have just build my new rig, I'll be keeping an eye on the new i3s as more and more of my friends are moving from their terrible laptops to desktops and they don't really have the money to mostly afford i5/8 series etc. Also, I will be planning a LAN box at some point and intel really are the only option when it comes to itx builds ( Not a huge fan of those apus amd have.).

I'll definitely be upgrading!
My current rig only has an AMD Athlon II X3 425, which is ready for a nice quiet retirement.
Fortunately, my birthday is in July, so should be able to afford a top end Haswell rig (4770k, 16gb 2133 RAm, GTX 680) then.
Because i've been struggling with the performance for the last months, I'm looking forward to the upgrade!
IMO, i've coped for this long, so there is no point going to ivy.

Still happy with my 3570k on a MSI Mpower big bang 2 mobo. maybe next gen :)
need a new gfx card though, got an old 470 SOC :)

I personally don't see the need to, my 2600K is aitting at 4.8ghz stable and both my GTX 670 FTW aren't doing to much even in nvidia surround so why bother ATM.

I'll get what ever comes after Haswell, I never upgrade every single generation usually every 2nd so then I've amassed a good amount of money to spend on all the top parts I want :)
