With the release of Intel's 4th Generation of i3, i5, and i7 processors fast approaching, we at OC3D are curious as to how you guys feel about upgrading to Haswell.

We've been shown a load of Z87 teasers from motherboard manufacturers, including the latest photos from Gigabyte, and it's around this time that a lot of you will have made your mind up.

So, what shall it be?

If I can sell this rig (I have a person who is interested) I might stick with my spare rig until the summer and then upgrade to an i7 4770k set-up with 16GB RAM (2133) and maybe 2 GTX 660 Ti's in SLI. Going all out this time :D

Yep, 100% sure.
I won't keep this fx-4100 any longer than i have to and why would i buy IB/SB if i can get Haswell for the same price.

I might upgrade about this time next year, but very much doubt it.
...but i'm gonna get a Haswell based notebook this autumn, if they manage to get the fixed revisions out the door by the time i need it.

I am going to upgrade, i'm still on a 2500k so even if Haswell is only a 10% increase over Ivy it's ~20% increase over Sandy, and that's without overclocking.

Don't think I can afford everything at once (life n bills) so i'll probably grab a mobo on release, the CPU a couple of weeks after, then a 350D or maybe another case soon after that.

Is it really worth it?
I'm more than happy with my 3770K right now. I don't see how dropping £300 on a new chip is worth the ~10% performance increase.

If you were buying or building a new rig it would make sense to go Haswell. Definitely don't think it's worth jumping on if it's just for the sake of it.

Yes. I am still using a Core I5 760. I usually dont get the best CPU but this time I'm going for the 4770K (Its overkill for me but I want it anyway)

2500k will hopefully be fine for the next 2-3 years.
Otherwise hardcore overclock will fix that :D
Chuck in a new GPUs and i'll be good to go.

my 1090t will do me for another gen or two i think. upgrades from there depends on intel and amd's offerings

Upgrade

I'd love to upgrade to the new gen or maybe a hexa core from the sandy E bridge, but i just don't have the cash to spend more money or enough to justify the upgrade with the current prices if the sandy E bridges fall in price which they most likely won't i might think about upgrading. but i guess with the new upgrade means i'll have to get a new motherboard as well just more money that i don't have and can't really see the benefits of doing so right now.

nah my i7 950 still does its job, and pretty darn good i might add. I would if i had money to spend, i'd upgrade just for the sake of it, but as i'm a student and i don't have a car(not even a driving license), i'll be saving my money for that.

ill stick with what i got for at least a year by then the prices should go down enough and ill be able to afford it :D

I'm not sure if I'll upgrade to haswell , maybe in a year or so , depends on what kind of prices the new boards and processors have. I will be watching for reviews though.
