OC not showing in Windows 7

Thanks. i reset my BIOS, installed a new Windows, then followed the guide. unfortunately on stress testing the CPU is not going over 3.9GHz.

Hi all, I am still having the same issue. I have been trying on and off for a year but still no luck with overclocking. desperately need some help!

Q : What temps U got under load ?
Q2 : Have U installed latest BIOS ?

I don't see any point in switching off "Turbo", since CPU usually needs that, to go over base clock.
But maybe I'm stupid and don't know anything :P
Either way - check temps on CPU and try lower freq. first - like 4,2 or 4,0GHz for start.
Doing 4,8GHz "from the get go", is OK if U know how to OC that CPU.
But it can cause problems if U don't know your CPU OC capabilities.

PS. ALWAYS check if performance gone up after OC.
If it didn't - U must lower your frequency to match that from last increase in performance.

Still haven't got this sorted? It's a little strange, there must be something that's been missed in the bios. Something that needs to be checked or unchecked.

Send us screen shots of every page in your bios.

There's a lot of mixed advice on this thread. You can overclock using the turbo, or not perfectly fine but if you turn the turbo off you have to set the OC is a different part of the bios. Usually next to the base clock frequency.

Also things like power saving modes, c1e, LLC and spread spectrums are not going to make very much difference at all to an everyday overclock let alone prevent an overclock entirely.

Sorry I've been late. This PC is in constant use so very hard to take it offline.

also, if the bios number in your OP is correct, that bios was from 2013, upgrade to the latest version (1603 2014/09/05)
4770K 4th gen is only fully supported from BIOS 1402 2014/03/14.

That screenshot is out of date, I have the 1505 BIOS. I applied the update using EZ Flash 2, not the BIOS updater Asus recommends.

Your BIOS settings look fine, try CPUz instead of HWinfo, HWinfo is known to have issues if you have ever used Intel extreme tuning software and is very hit or miss. Post a screenshot of CPUz as it will show all relevant info about your processor and voltage.

Posts merged - Please do not double post

Do you have the correct MEI drivers for your board? Download from the asus support site, then update BIOS to latest using the update software after installing the MEI drivers. Apparently using EZ flash doesn't upgrade the Intel chipset firmware required for 4th gen CPU full support. You can also do the BIOS upgrade thought the USB Flashback button to ensure its all done successfully. By all accounts your not the only one to have issues upgrading to 4th gen architecture, bit of a ass backwards way of doing it all.
