So, i had this piece of plexi laying around and as i always wanted to do something with the top and the front of the switch 810, i decided i'll do another front and top ( not to ruin the original ones) and in the same time learn some stuff :)

still wondering about a good way to stick them together as i dont want it to be permanent and i dont want to drill the plexi. any suggestions would be really appreciated.

i still need to buy the mesh and as soon as the front will be done, i will start working on the top part. that will be more of a challenge to mount but we'll see along the way :)

yea, i forgot to post a picture of the mounting spots, the dust filter part has 7 raised screw spots that wont be very strong with double sided tape and would completely seal them if i used hot glue or silicone,

best idea so far is to use a couple of small wooden blocks with double sided tape on both sides.

would like to see some specs in the opening post. can't rely on signatures too
much as things change, but your thread didn't for future viewers..being a project
log...

grr completely forgot about the specs, did the thread last night and forgot about it.

I can't edit it now, airdeano would you mind fixing it for me pls?

Have you considered a half decent proper plastic cement? The kind you using in scale models and stuff. Bung some of that on and the bond will be pretty strong but you could easily break it after?

Less is more with that stuff, it'l melt the two together on a molecular level and should make a nice bond which you could cut later i guess?

nice work on the acrylic btw

thanks SuB really appreciate it, it was my first time working with plexi and i'm pretty satisfied with the outcome, i dont really want to use cement as i prefer not to modify the original plastic piece. My Idea is that i'll mount it with magnets so it will be easily removable :)

Edit: NVM with the magnets, i'm not really comfortable putting a couple of magnets close to the hard drives :|

No probs, even more impressive if it's your first time.
Its only the really thin stuff, it will give a strong enough bond to stay put but shouldn't damage it beyond re-use ?

Update : Finally Decided

Mounting is going to be using some double sided tape i had laying around which is pretty strong and is transparent so a + to that.

Today i got the mesh and cut it and painted it so the front piece is finally ready :)

The mesh was mounted to the plexi using some hot glue

Note : The top part will be put on hold till i get my hands on another piece of plexi as I was cutting it and it cracked in an awkward way that cannot be salvaged, it became very brittle so yea, i'm done for now :|
