NZXT H440 vs CM Storm Trooper

Doesnt the H440 support the H100i at the top without any modifications?
It does. You can easily fit a H100i in there between the motherboard and the top of the case. Checked on numerous sites and some YT videos.

Are you removing the cover at the top for a h100i or similar?
No, I plan on doing a push pull with the H105 in the front. The top cover is staying, I am simply going to mount 2 AF120 Quiet fans in order to balance out the air getting inside of the case.

This is how it's going to look.

My friend has a 970 gigabyte non ref card, and i found as long as its flat on a level base the whole case was pretty darn quiet even when i ramped up the fans and the psu fans to max just to test it.

Heard them a bit but the window is quite thick, and solid against the panel so not too much sound escapes through anything but the vent holes.

If he had a mic id tell him to record it for you sorry.

Comparing cases on noise levels, especially when you are going to fill them with performance hardware, is a total waste of time. It's all about just being diligent with how you set it up and what your trying to cool. You can't just silently chuck 700 watts of heat out of a case (on air), 2 or 300 maybe. Vibration is an issue, I will not deny that but some fans incorporate solutions and if not some rubber washers will deal with it. Go with the case you like the look of and put effort into picking the right hardware to run quietly. But low power consumption, big surface area and low air flow are the important attributes in that respect.

My Parvum is silent and that's literally made of windows and holes :D ok actually the pump on the H105 is a little audible but otherwise... anyway i'd just go with what you like for a case.

Goal in mind: SILENCE

With that being said, i am aware that the H440 is covered with sound dampening foam inside whereas the Trooper isnt.

However, it's not hard to buy that kind of foam at an auto store.

The question at hand: Can you cover the Trooper with enough foam inside to make it somewhat less noisy? Anyone did it to their Trooper?

Trooper owner here. How much (if at all) are you going to take it places? I got the trooper after my Scout grew too small. I take my PC with me occasionally to a friend's house. The handle makes it a decent amount easier to lug around.

As far as quiet goes, it's not really quiet. Then again I've never personally cared about that. I've gone for performance in cooling/looks of case 1st and noise really isn't even considered. Most of the time I have headphones on when I'm by it so I don't hear it anyway.

You *could* put sound dampening material inside if you really wanted to. There is a ton of space inside.

If you're willing to do a little bit of work to get the sound dampening you want, I think you'll be happy with the case otherwise.

Oh, I've already decided. I am waiting for the Razer Edition of the NZXT H440 to appear in stores this month.

Was thinking the same things lol

If you want a green case I would just get the regular black and green h440, but if you like it, who am I to judge?

I like the Razer Edition because it has a ton of black all over it with only a small amount of green. The other cases have too much of the colour on them for my likes.

On Reddit I saw people trading some ofthe parts but I prefer going with what is standard in the Razer Edition.

EDIT: btw. It just started appearing in local stores for me. Currently it costs 210 USD (using Google to calc currency).
What is the cost of the H440 Razer in your countries?

Not available in the US yet.

However Newegg has it listed for 149 USD, which is the NZXT store price:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146187

Its £125 in the UK. The normal black and green H440 is £90.
So it's like 20 USD (around 190 USD) cheaper in the UK right now.
I am waiting for it to drop down to 175 - 180 USD. I am hoping I'll get it forthat much. I already bought a Define R5 for 110 USD.

That's weird.. I looked on Newegg and they didn't have any razer edition when i looked. Interesting.

Respective sites use their own search engines which mostly use simple tags. I prefer to use google most of the time: "h440 razer newegg" works very well :)

Now the H440 Razer costs 180 USD. Farm from 150 but gets better.

At least it's nto as bad as Brazil where they can charge you up to 1400-1500 USD for a PS4 >_>

I know how to search things..

It is expensive and not worth the price. Tbh no case is worth it over $120. If you are watercooling then that's different. But for AIO and such no not really. I'd stick with the Original H440.
