Hi Guys

Which GFX card would you buy???? as I'm fed up in GFX card overheating, and risking my whole system.

Thanks

Hay

Yeah, Awesome Card, I have one....! Dunno if the XXX is worth the extra money as the standard cards are good overclockers anyway But you can always let us know! :)

I havnt got a problem with XFX gpu's, usually have a decent warranty, only thing is be mindfull of overclock uks horrid shipping ;)

I really doubt the XXX is worth the extra cash tbh, I'm thinking of picking up one of these aswell but havent made up my mind yet.

Let us know how you make out!

Responsible advice would have been to sweat out the heat issues for the time being, since the existing card isn't exactly a perfomance slouch, and there's still too little Dx11 benefit to anything to be really excited.

If you weren't planning on outlaying £360 - and were perhaps looking for a low to mid-range card, then there's little opportunity to get upset in a month or so.

IF, and I repeat IF, you spend £360 and in that month or so (which I'm sure a 295's performance wouldn't upset most people during that month), you find that the card's price drops significantly and is no longer the performer it was once championed as.

A month compared to a possible 4 year duration that may be DirectX 11 is insignificant.

We really need to think more about the member's best interests than promoting our favorite team or camp for whatever reasons.

For sure, the purchased card will perform very well. But, judging by the existing card, the member is looking to purchase the top card of a generation with large cash and although £360 isn't much to some people, it's a massive purchase for others who would expect it to be an investment.

Well got the card about 10am has been installed for about an hour, so here are the idle temps:-

Yes, that is true, however the 295's are still selling at a premium and Hayley said she was going to sell so she will cover if not exceed what the new card is going to cost. If that is the case then the 5870 is by far the better option, has DX11 support and room for another card with reasonable power consumption etc etc. :)

Regardless of the next gen of Nvidia cards, the 5870 will still be comparable in performance, it is here now, it supports DX11 and it will be lower priced than the new Nvidia cards.

Having a bit of trouble, have tried playing 2 games tonight, plays for about 2 minutes then crashes, can't get out of it (have to press reset button on pc) I get brown vertical lines on the screen nothing else....

Been trying to play Dirt 2 & COD MW2

I downloaded the latest driver from the ATI website, can anyone help me solve this problem

Also I have noticed when starting windows (windows 7) the "starting windows" screen flickers once

Tom, this is the 5870 i'm talking about, crashes Dirt 2 & COD MW2, I have reinstalled the drivers and everything it still crashes

Helppppppppp !!!

ahhhhh Right. Did you do a driver clean Hayles? and by that I mean uninstall and then let a driver cleaner remove ALL ati & nvid drivers?

PSU is a Corsair 1000watt

I uninstalled all the Nvidia & ATI stuff from control panel, restarted, then installed ATI driver and restarted again, but still crashing :(

Just using Driver cleaner now, will report back soon (fingers crossed it works)
