Not sure on what to buy for a Home Server

Hi again guys!
So, for the last few days I've been contemplating getting a home server for my family as my mum and sister would like quick and easy backup of all of their important files, such as media and videos etc, and I would like a rig that would torrent and backup my OS etc...
So here's the question: What should I buy for a low power consumption and noise. Unfortunately I have a HUGE restriction on a budget of £150-200.
Any components you guys could recommend? I already have a drive or 2 lying around so that isn't a problem.
Thanks! :)

These little hp servers are meant to be quite good link. After the £100 cashback that leaves you some money to spend on the os and anything else you might want.

Have to agree, for a small budget, I've heard very good things about the HP Proliant Microservers.

Thanks guys, but I've had another look around and quickly found some cheap, low power consumption parts on amazon (I know that they aren't the cheapest, it was just for a look at what I could get). What I found was:

AMD Sempron 145
£29
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P
£35
Crucial 2GB DDR3 1066 @ 1.5v x2
£20
Corsair CX430 (Overkill, I know)
£37
StarTech.com PCI Gigabit Ethernet Port
£10
And a 2TB WD Caviar Green that I already had...
Please tell me what you think I could change etc.
Thanks again! :)

What about a Pentium G2020 on a MSI H61M-P31 (G3) iH61 board?

FOr the power supply you could easily grab a Corsair VS350?

So I assume from the list that you've provided above that you have a case and some hard drives?

So you are basically after a cpu, m/b, mem & psu.

In that case for £200...

m/b - MSI B75A-G41 Motherboard Socket 1155 Intel B75 - £53.70
cpu - Intel Pentium G2020 - £45.84
psu - be quiet! Pure Power L7 300W - £33.96
mem - 8GB Mushkin Enhanced Silverline - £33.95

Comes in at £167.45

Add say a Fractal Design Core 3000 for £47.98 and your golden.

I was running whs2011 on a gigabyte mini ITX Atom board with a £30 cit case with built in PSU. 2gb ram and drives. Whs2011 cost me £45 if I recall.

I now have it in a fractal design core 1000 case with an Antec Earthwatts psu

It's cheap and very low wattage. I have it running constantly. It backs up my networked computers automatically, runs torrents and acts as my video and music server to the whole house and to my remote devices.
