I had to send my DFI SLI-D off for RMA as it wouldn't work (4led's stay lit) I tried switching all the components so it had to be the board. I had only ever tried using the AMD stock cooler.

After a few weeks I finally received my board back but they hadn't repaired it. Reasons being were:

Unauthorized repair from customer

Mechanical damage due to improper usage

Also they have removed the cpu socket

£130 odd for the board wasted plus £15 odd for insured postage to Holland wasted

In the trash it goes...

That's crazy! What did you do to it for them to say 'unauthorised repair from customer'??

There must have been a sign of something? I just RMA some RAM, I hope they don't just send it back broken! Never done an RMA before u c...

DFI are notorious for shoddy RMA handling experiences. The fact that it has to go to Holland is ridiculous in itself. Look at my RMA reference Prometeia units, I will try my best to fix any problem before taking it to Denmark. Why others cant handle that is beyond me

I got my dfi ultra d back but I havent fired it up yet so I am unsure if it does or doesn't work ?? They said mine was repaired????

Thats the problem with DFI, there great when they work but when they fail, your up against it trying to get them sorted. Thats why i dont use them anymore. They may be the best boards out, but the failure rate is just too high for me

I totally agree with you - I dont use them anymore either I found the boards to be totally unstable at load, hence the removal of my dream machine from custom pc.

I didn't do anything to it for them to say 'unauthorised repair from customer'. It looked like new when I shipped it out by bloody airsure. Comes back and the socket has been removed!

I am no longer going to go with DFI either. Especially now I'm not on phase change - I don't need such high volt options. The ASUS board is pretty solid and the new abit board are supposedly good.

sorry to hear that fella, thats pretty bloody shoddy sending you that back.

One tip for any one else returnning stuff, I always put a sticker or write on a sticker on the board with my initials on it & take aphoto before sending, Ive been stung in the past with similar problems, so I mail them in advance telling them my return can be identified (its not uncommon for mix ups to happen on test behches for example).

oh & btw..

if anyone wants to loan me a dfi board so i can hit 3.8 on this bloody fx chip pm me :)

only need it to try out..

The Asus A8N-Premium/Deluxe are stable boards - easily the best I've used.

hhehehhehe, good news im getting the standard A8N-E.

I don't watnt SLI, nor will i ever want it, there is no point in those boards is there phil?

Ive been told ill need to bios flash with a 4400 X2, but thats ok, they seem stable fom hat ive seen.

Also the Abit Fatality boards, own DFI.

id be pissed off with that as well Nick.

DFI were good with me and a new BIOS wanted, they sent me one for nothing, when i didn't ask for one, on my 754, though i used df-street, the guy on there?

Nick mate,

Thats crap and DFI should be shot, especially for removing the socket as well!!

I fell for ya - if you want sli go for the fataility unit and use an OZC booster if you still want to use high voltage ram.

I am not tempting fate by saying anything about my board but I guess you can catch the drift of what I am saying.

Perhaps if we all gave DFI a miss in future they would get the message - have you contacted your retailer to explain the situation to see if they can assist?

Mav

Thanks Mav, the retailer (where I bought it from) just tell me to deal with DFI directly. Hence why I had to send the board to Holland in the first place.

It's good that people share their bad (and the good) experiences with these large company's. I know that I will try and avoid DFI now. I want them to know that too, because it is important that they support their own products, especially with the money us enthusiasts splash out on them...

That's my say anyway... :)

Just worked it out and thats wasted me £154 in all :( Doesn't help when I'm already a skint student :p

god, i hope this doesnt happen to me, i just sold my a8n sli, and bought a dfi ultra-d! lol!!

Im on a tight budget for stuff as it is, without a mobo failing on me :p

On the good side my DFI nF4 SLI-DR has been my most stable board so far and far better than my old NF3 Asus. Having said that I'd dread anything going wrong considering that awful service and my sympathy goes out to you nick25, that is very frustrating :(

I feel for your student overdraft too... I know what it's like at this time of the year for a student, I just had an IC7-MAX3 (Old Skool) give in...

I knew it was on its way out, nemind

i bought a dfi ultra b second hand a while ago and it died on me, i sent it off for rma and it came back yesterday brand new replacement...

i had hooked the board up to a prommy and couldnt remove all the seal string

and i didnt send them the original invoice which they say without they will negate the rma and send it back...

thumbs up to dfi... just try and contact them nick and ask why thier customer support has been good to me

Companies who deal with RMA direct you would think would make a better effect for good service, but to expect direct returns only when they only have one address is....stupid. They should have offices in all the main countries they sell in.

I`m trying to get an RMA on an OCZ DDR Booster... nagged at them for a bit, but no confirmaton to send it. Ryder has stepped in to help out, but after I sent him my RMA form...nothing. Do they only accept returns to California? maybe they looked at my address and thought I was trying to wind them up....

My personal choices for Mobos...Epox or maybe the Abit AN8 (not Fatal1ty) boards. Not many reviews about the Abit boards, but seem to be accepted as good.
