Normal running Temp of a 8800 GT

What is the Normal Running Temp of a Nvidia 8800 GT 512mb when not active.

Im getting 60c wich to me seem pritty dammed hot for a GPU card on normal with any gaming and just in windows 7 desk top.

It might explain why i cannot seem to run in 2x AA as it artefacts and then reboots the system.

So any idea on normal temps.

what sort of cooler is on it?When mine was on air I used to idle at 45ish and load at 60,but once it got some dirt in it went up to 50-55 idle and 70-75 load.they can take upto 85-90 with ease

when i had my pair of 8800gt's they idle'd at around 40-43, but i also cleaned them out as much as possible, so in your case durt could be the problem or poor case circulation

No case. I don't have a case lol.

Mate, if its not dirt build up, it could be a case of poor TIM by the manufacturor. I would consider some silver5 a good plan of action, also rules out that the heatsink is at a funny angle

Agreed, although use MX2, since AS5 is conductive and may kill the gpu.

well talk about another mess up

Cleaned with isopropanol

applied New pads.

Applied tim.

Fitted back in

Temps went from 40c to 90c in about 25 seconds and shut down.

Removed card for now

The card is a Zotac 8800 GTS amped edition.

Ill look for a new cooler for it for now.

Think my tim pads maybe to thick for it lol.

I did not use pads,lol I just put a little bit of ceramique on the memory

Ill wait till i have the fund and get my self a decent Cooler for it i think .

Just stuck my asus 8800 GT for now.

its a bad mount dude, thats all. take the cooler back off and take pics, Ill give them a look and tell you what youve done.

there is no damage to the card its fine just the pads are 1.5mm to thick. Ill be ordering a new Cooler for it next week so its not a problem.

I have cleaned and iospropynol the whole card and HS

Added Coollaboratory Liquid MetalPad - 1x GPU to the GPU

Added Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Compound to the ram and Power things

Temps now 52c on idel and 62c on full load

after 15 min.

Ill let it embed a little more and see how its settles down.

Should just use mx2 Mayhem, its the gpu that you need to be most carefull with

im now getting 48c on idle and 58/60c on full load after 1 hour. So to be honest i think i went with the best option (esp since ive used all my pocket money up lol)..

Obviously though the way i do things isnt the same as every one else but since Ive been Using CL since before it even hit main stream im quite happy.

How ever im not fully happy with the card over all becuase i think there is some thing wrong with it as im not able to use 2xAA at all in SF4 (works in other games). So im just going to get a new card when i next get payed and get rid of this one on flea bay.
