hi guys

got my 2500k tonight got a d-14 on it and its louder than it was before :/ i was running it before with the low noise adapters but this seems quite loud. im thinking its my exhaust fan not being as high CFM thus causing the d-14 to sound so loud :/ on another note any ideas why my core temps range from 36 to 41 at idle? i used mx-4 as the thermal paste :/ any ideas?

Something is not right if you are getting 36 - 41 idle, you might have put too much, or not enough thermal paste on. The rear fan shouldn't make it sound louder either to be honest, don't know why all of a sudden it sounds louder though.

maybe its just turning up a little because your temps are that high. i get to mid 40s unter full load with my 2500k

The idle temps are too high for a D14 that's for sure. My Scythe Mugen 3 keeps my 2500K at 30 degrees at 20 ambient, and that's a single tower cooler. Defo remove the heatsink, clean off the TIM and reapply a new layer and refit the heatsink. As for the increase in noise, not sure what's going on there to be perfectly honest but i know that the rear fan shouldn't effect it

ill try re seating it tomorrow night. shall i use the mx-4 or the noctua paste? as for the noise i just looked up d-14 noise specs and its 12.5db with low noise adapters in and 19.6db without so it probably just me being so used to 12.6 db

thanks guys

Both the Noctua and MX4 Paste is great, use whatever one you are most comfortable with. I used MX-4 too because it's cheap, it's non conductive and has great performance

i used the noctua paste on mine, and @4.5ghz on 1.37v it idle at 28 peak at 55 ish. but i have got my fans on a fan controller, turned em all the way down, then back up so they wer barely audible. nice cool n quiet now

noctua paste has no metallic matter in its paste. the "silver" is highly conductive and when "ooozzed"

into the chip teathers can short the processor..

airdeano

right ive reseated it today and im now getting temps of around 29 to 32 on cores 1 2 and 3 which im happy with but on core 4 its about 38 degrees

shall i re seat again or?

Try running a stress test and see if the temps become more equal whilst under load. It's not unusual to get one core appearing to be on it's own (my 2600k has one

).

i just downloaded the normal one off the website..... its using all 4 cores @ 100% in task manager so im guessing its the right one? how long shall i run it for? about 50 degress atm and it doesnt seem like its going up any more, thats with my fans on low speed to
