Hi All,

Just picked up a Radeon VII brand new in the box non opened and PC wont post with it installed, cannot even see the bios screen just fast fan spin and then slow fan spin, reset CMOS & still not post, Motherboard bios is on latest version with CSM & UEFI enabled. PSU is Corsair AX 760i and has 2 8 pin connected to GPU.

Motherboard is ITX so cannot boot into windows with spare GPU to check if its detected or update the bios on it...

Any ideas ?

use your spare graphics card and then try again. I have to do this sometimes while testing.

Which motherboard are you using? Sometimes motherboard just bugs out and uses IGPU for no reason at all. I had a similar issue when during the Windows setup screen would go dark. Discrete GPU wasn't in use and the picture was coming from IGPU. Clear CMOS didn't do a thing. I manually selected discrete graphics in BIOS just because it was the only thing I haven't tried after 3 hours and it worked.

MB - X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3
CPU - 3950x
PSU - AX760i

Only one PCI-E slot (ITX)

Radeon VII no post with fan spin
Nvidia P400 posts just fine

Lost here now !

Did you try a different Display Port or HDMI connection on the Radeon card? Try all of them. Maybe one is dead, or the card is posting only to one output.

When I try to boot with this my keyboard and mouse dont even light up, I have tried all three display ports and the 1 HDMI port, still no go...

The only thing I can think of is to try Radeon on a different system. If it doesn't work there then it is dead.

I had the same thing on my first Radeon 7, Turned out it was just faulty which seems to be a running theme with Radeon 7's sadly.

Will speak with a friend to see if he can try on his system. Got a ticket open with XFX also.

Because I fried my 2080 ti earlier this week maybe something got damaged on the PCI-E slot? Or the PCI-E psu cables ? But then I would guess I would have issue with my emergency GPU the nvidia P400 would also have issues but it seems to be working just fine.

I just feel that something is seriously wrong with this world at the moment.

Were getting juiced for every last $ from these big companies due to poor quality control.

What happened to the good old days when everything seemed to work as designed !

It got replaced by progress and manufacturer's greed fueled by the short attention span of the modern generation. Do you think anyone cares or remembers that Radeon 7 was a compete fckup as long as there is a new thing released?

Notre-Dame de Paris burned. Do you know how much the hype lasted? 7 hours and then it was like it never happened.

Instead of making an actually good product that will last, everything is made just to survive long enough until the new thing comes out or the warranty expires with acceptable losses of devices crapping out before that time.

I don't see why would a majority of the people need a better phone than the Galaxy S9 (or equivalent). But you can't. It will die the day after the warranty expires, or it will get slowed down buy manufacturers (khm Apple) on purpose so you would have to buy the new model.

So looks like the guy who sold me the supposedly brand new XFX Radeon VII robbed me, the serial numbers on the box and on the card don't match. I searched the first few digits of the card serial number S/1:602-V803 and I get some matching MSI serial numbers online.

So I put the whole serial number on the product registration page of MSI and it came back showing me a Radeon VII.

No idea what the guy who sold it to me is playing at, maybe hes innocent because the box and card do look brand spanking new.

He's meeting me tomorrow to take the card back and give me my money back, hopefully he turns up.
