New Widescreen Panel

Yeah, I'd go with a Samsung monitor. Samsung makes about 75% of the panels used in Dell monitors, while the other 25% are LG panels.

FYI, I've heard that ALL the 22" monitors on the market feature the same TN based Samsung panels.

Oh, and my Dad has been using the Samsung 204BW 20.1" wide screen for a few months now, and he loves it. An XFX 8800GTS is driving it.

I've heard that also.

Which would mean in reality both are Samsung TN panels. ;)

Have you not looked at any of the Dell monitors, I own a Dell 2007WFP and love it although I know alot of people are choosing the Samsung 20" you are looking at over mine nowadays.

i got the 226bw and had 2 of them with the same ghosting and backlight bleed on both. i had A and C panels i believe

none of those problems on this 22" LG, god..

The way I look at it is:

If you're going for a cheap TN panel, go for a 22".

But if you want a quality panel spend the extra and get a good 20" S-IPS/P-MVA panel. (like a dell 2007wfp)

If you're really looking for quality, get a 24" so you gain in resolution and size :)

So if I want the 20inch size which would suit me and my needs plus my desk space :p the Samsung is likely to be the best ever, and if bought from play.com I have good balance for RMA'ng the item should it ghost or have any issues?

I've got a 206BW, came today, very nice screen but the trim is not fingerprint friendly lol

I heard theres a lint free cloth it includes? How do you like the LCD? I have a 216BW coming tomorrow :D (21.6")

are really vivid bright colors a factor for you?

if so then the samsung/s might have a slight advantage over others

they can put out some mad color with the natural color+magicolor features.

either way its another vote for samsung here, great monitors (i have a 205bw)

Raging.

Since I have already made the choice last October I will just say it again, Dell 2007WFP FTW !!

I hate how Dell changed their modeling scheme from "2005FPW" to "2007WFP." Before you could replace the P and have "2005FTW" rofl.

Yea it comes with everything really. The cloth, a UK 3pin plug, an EU 2pin plug (whole cable not just adapter), VGA cable and a DVI cable, both of which are nice and long.

And the LCD is very nice, beautifully crisp with not a single lazy pixel.

As savage said the colours that it is capable of are fantastic, I'ts given games a new depth graphically that my old screen wasn't capable of.

Also the center of the base swivels over 180* which is great for watching vids from bed.

One thing I don't really like however is when you shutdown and the screen goes onto standby, instead of the blue light on the pwr switch changing, it flashes. Which is probably to make you turn it off and not waste energy having it on standby

My 216BW came today, installing Vista on her now. The OSD is great! No dead pixels, cloth, nice long DVI cable. No VGA cable though. Still a great monitor thus far. I'm just in awe over the sheer size of it atm. It seems to dwarf my dads 20.1"

Right guys sorry to BUMPAGE this thread but.

I have £190 for my new tft, I want quality and I hear Samsung are the winners on this front.

Size is not important I'm happy with 19inch to be honest 20inch is nice now I would like to spend about £150 on it and have some change for my new desk.

What would you go for from OCUK and Play.com?
