Just a quick question about the X-Case RM 400/10 V2 case that you are using for your 2nd server. I've just looked at Jamo's vid and he says that you can fit 2 * 5 in 3 caddies/backplanes into this case. Would they go were the 2 front 120mm fans are?

This is a great project.

You can pay upwards of £1k for one of those server racks, and there's not really much to them. Your ghetto approach is a much better option.

I went for the shelf attached to the wall option myself, not as tidy as this build tho.

Can't believe how cheap that 4u case is >.<

ye i have one of thos coming tommorow and i will get another one later plus i will be geting 5x 2TB drive to go in to it in about 4 months when i build my new gaming rig

and yes you would have to remove the front fan plates and fans to put them in to that case

thanks it was a good idea for me plus it only cost about £55 tot to build it i could have got some more wood and made some more shelvs but i will only be having 2 server on it so it was ok for that

In that case wouldn't that leave you 3 * 5.25 bays free on the right hand side? Couldn't you put a 5 in 3 in there as well?

Does the right hand side have rails for 5.25 devices? If it does it'll only take a 4 in 3, as they have grooves in the sides, but the 5 in 3's don't.

no its just the same as the other 2 bits plus eny cases with thos grooves can be bent in for the drive bay box to fit in
