hey guys, i'm savin up to buy myself a new rig to last me another 2-3 years (my current system is a 939 mid range opteron 170 @ 2.6ghz on stock cooling).

so here is the outline for my new rig:

Abit IP-35 Pro

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450

512MB XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog XXX

OCZ DDR2 2GB Kit PC2-9200 Flex XLC Dual Channel Kit

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750

inc a few HDDs which i'm planning to air cool (a coupla mods to my Lian Li V2100B case front and side (cold air in and hot air out respectively) should do a sufficient job on that.

now, my question is, i'm thinking of watercooling - i'm a complete noob at it, but i want the best that is feasibly possible without going majorly overboard (£300 budget give or take a few £?).

i'm thinking triple 120mm Rad (for futureproofing as well) (top of case), some noctua fans, maybe a fan controller (cabling is gonna be a

for that) and erm well.......the rest i'm stumped on.

i will also need help with hoses, fluids, clamps, resevoirs, barbs etc.

plz help! lol.

if u feel you could give me some personal tips (i know i'll be buggin Ham on this one) - thx to everyone that helps!

i'll be OCing the 9450 to minimum 4ghz.

and i'll probably be OCing the grfx card, although i won't be trying to find the "max" it can do in that sense, only playful OCing. It's the CPU i really wanna play with.

looking to cool the CPU and Grfx (only 1 card atm - but need the possibility for adding on extra parts). I've been told there is not much point in cooling the board itself with an intel based board, so unless i've been misinformed, i'll only need the cpu and grfx.

I would start with cooling the cpu and GFX as these are your hottest parts and then see what the temps on the northbridge is like - as this may need cooling if it gets too hot.

could you give me a rough part list of the bits that you recommend?

Components:

Mobo: Abit IP-35 Pro

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450

Grfx: 512MB XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog XXX

Case: Lian Li V2100B

budget: £300

I would want something that is futureproof and very decent for the budget. Setup wise I will utilise a coupla buddies of mine to help me out (as they have done watercooling before).

I will probably aircool the northbridge, with either the Noctua NC-U6 or Thermalright HR-05

D-Tek Fuzion or an EK Supreme CPU block. An EK 8800GT block

PA120.3 RAD

DDC with whatever top you fancy

1/2" or 7/16 tubing with jubilee clips

Res of your choice (suggest a decent bay res)
