New Rig, Corsair X79

STUNT

New member
This is basically a list of parts and problems since I´m waiting for a new Corsair case an meanwhile I´m ussing a crappy Coller Master Haf X (not that I don´t like the case, but I can´t mod this one xD)

Almost everything is for Corsair (and the non-corsair hardware is just because corsair doesn´t make it xD I love this brand)

Motherboard: MSI Big Bang x-power II
CPU: Intel Core i7 3930K
PSU: Corsair AX1200i
Cooling: Corsair H100i
Fans: 6x Corsair SP 120mm High Performance and 2x Corsair AF 140mm Low Noise
SSD: Corsair Force Series GT 120Gb
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3Tb

I started building this rig with the new year but most of the pieces take too long to arrive and there where lots of shipping and stock issues to get them...

I bought motherboard, ssd, and CPU to the same shop. It take about 25 days more to arrive than the date they gave me...

Meantime I bought some parts in another places (because the frist one wasn´t able to get them)

I bough the fans on my favorite local store.. sadly they couldn´t get any of the other parts I wanted (not the ones I had already bought neither the ones I was planning to buy)... the fans toke a week to arrive, not bad.

(first time cable sleeving, I don´t like it, it will look better with a bigger heatshrink)

I bought the case (Corsair 800D) on a local store, the front panel was broken and it toke a week to get a replacement one (I didin´t have hardware to build in so no problem with the delay)

I had to buy the Corsair H100i from ebay to Italy since it wasn´t avaliable in any shop I know in my country :S
(pictures here soon xD)

Same problem with the PSU, there was only one shop selling it.. at 400€! so I bought it from Amazon Spain and they send it from Germany.. but it was 100€ cheaper so definetly worth to wait a couple of days more xD
(pictures here soon xD)

When the motherboard (+ssd and cpu) arrived I realized it didn´t fit on my Corsair 800D :S

I sold the case to my brother (he wanted one as well) and I´m using his Coller Master Haf X until I can buy the Corsiar 900D (it´s not available yet) but I can´t mod the case since my brother wants to sell it so the H100i is only atached by 4 of the 8 screws it came with (the ones on the corners)

It was february 5 or so when I finaly get all this pieces and I put them together.

My brother provided me 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance ram and I used some crappy peripherls and an old AMD GPU.
There wasn´t any hardware I can use from my last computer since it was an iMac.

In the first week of the month I bought new peripherlas and a storage HDD but I´m still decideing which keyboard to buy (I want a Corsair K95... with blue switches T_T)
My brother is paying the case little by little so the rig was half way done and I didn´t have money to buy enything else.

(my brother's PC on the 800D)

Today I have sold my iMac for 800€! ^^ so with that money I have finaly paid my laptop, now I have money for the Corsair 900D and I have bought this ram:
4x8Gb Corsair Dominator Platinum (quad channel, 1866mhz, cl9, 1.5v)

And with a couple of sells more and a little of pacience I´m saving money for a MSI GTX 680 lightning.

I won´t do cable sleeving since I don´t want to waste my 7 years warranty on the PSU so I´ll buy the corsair modular sleeved cable kits when they are abaliable (probably the blue ones and I'll change some sleeves for black ones)

I´m not planing on WC until I get the case.
Some pictures of the actual crappy building xD

(Missing 5,25" bays, so I toke the fron cover out and fill the empty spaces with blue painters tape to prevent dust of getting inside)

(same problem uptop as I had to remove the top cover to improve the airflow on the H100i)

(crappy power butons/leds...)

Sounds good buddie what sort of monitor/(s) you gonna go for and the vengance c70 is a pretty awesome case too fits my maximus V extreme board no issues and will take the 1200i lookimg forward to picks

Wow, better than expected!
Glad to see some comments ^^

@BPSRM: The only thing I have that´s isn´t made by them is the mice, but it´s just because I needed a wireless one.

@seumasbeathan: as FlangeBBK said, a MSI GTX 680 Lightning

@remember300: I´m using a single monitor (Samsun SyncMaster S23B550) because I don´t have to much space in my desk right now (I´m working on it)
The C70 wont fit my mobo, it´s taller than the Asus Maximus V extreme

@FlangeBBK: Thanks

@AverageNinja: I´ll put some pictures next week.

Yay, another Corsair fan! I'm building a Corsair system myself. Not quite as powerful as yours but should do the trick. Here's my Corsair hardware to be:

Corsair Obsidian 650D
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 16GB
Corsair CX750M
Corsair H100i
Corsair SSD (this will have to wait a few months tho)

wow thats a big mobo im still a newb when it comes to pcs .. i know enough to get me in and our of trouble bu thats it, i took a dive in at the deep end and started ocing and bits.
Whats the noise like with the push pull on the top cos im debating weither or not to do it... if i do ill make a mini rig to house them

The fans on the H100i are to noisy at minum rpm, but I think it´s because of the vibrations on the case (the side panels are a little loose).

Lovely specs mate but what is all the blue tape for? are you about to paint the case? Also you should def cable manage. it'll help improve airflow, prevent as much dust build up and most importantly your rig will look much better for it!

There´s a huge problem with this case; it´s not mine, I can´t modify it.
The cable management once I get the 900D is going to be awesome, but I need to get those two 8 pin cables up to the top of the motherboard and there arent any holes for cable management up there in the Haf X (there´s a little one for fan cables but it´s to small for the 8 pin conector)

The blue tape is for covering the top and front side because the case had to many holes for the dust to get inside and I think it looks better all in blue than just with some blue tape here and there.

Fair dos. The 900D looks awesome can't wait to start seeing people's water cooled builds filling one of those.

with the h100i use corsair link to plot them on a graph, unless im running at full chat i can not hear anything, i did a quick screen dump to show how mines set up

I just bought some cable sleeving to Nils from MDPC-X ^^
I think I´ll go for black & white on my rig

For my sata cables (with white conectors):
http://en.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sleeve/sleeve-sata-white.htm
http://en.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/heatshrink/heatshrink-sata-white.htm

And.. I won´t be doing cable sleeving to my PSU yet but since I needed to buy something else for the minimun order and the shipping was going to be the same..

Tools:
http://en.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sl...e-tools/pin-remover-by-molex-the-original.htm
http://en.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sleeve-kits-tools/sleeve-tools/pin-remover-4-pin-save-my-wallet.htm

For psu cables:
http://en.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sleeve/sleeve-small-black.htm
http://en.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sleeve/sleeve-small-white.htm

And 4 of the following just to have the same size for all the heatshrinks xD it drives my crazy to take the same meassurement all the time.

What and how many fans are you using? I´m using 4 corsair SP 120mm high performance without the low noise adapter, I have tried the same set up as yours and they became louder than in quiet mode.

I´ll try using the adapters late this night to see if it gets more quiet. but anyway I think it´s because of the vibrations on the case.

i have the stock case and h100i fans and its only loud when im running at full chat, also i had to minus 5-6 degrees to the temps i wanted as for some reason it did not like it. if you plug all of your fans into the h100i they can be worked together
hope this helps ya buddie

also with the silent fans they dont hit the same speeds as the stock ones. so you will have to also dial the speeds down
