Currently using an Acer Al1913 19.5" Monitor (MVA I think), which is a blast from the past like most things i'm currently using. It's about time I stepped into the HD era (only does 1280 x 1024) I think

Looking for a 22"-24" HD monitor (though not a TN panel preferably) in the sub £170~ range, it would be for gaming primarily but also films and video. I've been looking for a few days and have changed my opinions on which monitor would be good SO many times, due to not really knowing what I'm looking for or what would be the best choice, so I thought I'd come to and ask here

VA or IPS panels are generally better for gaming and picture quality, from what I've experienced anyway. Samsung has some very nice 22 - 24" LCDs as well.

Yeah, I was watching a LinusTechTips unboxing and he mentioned the difference between TN VA and IPS which confused me further as I'm still getting to grips with LCD TFT LED OMG...

No worries there. Truthfully, if you just want to game and watch videos and aren't too fussy about pure quality and differences between all these different panels, I'd say it won't really affect you all that much.

Asus and Hanns G also makes some nice LED backlit LCDs as well that you may want to take a look at.

Lots of love for iiyama here, it's strange that I dont see iiyama being recommended elsewhere! Is there any particular reason for this?

Certainly a nice monitor though! Added it to my short list =]

CocaCola, the links in your post go to the aria homepage im afraid! Might just be because I'm on my phone though, which models are they?

I was looking at some Asus monitors, possibly even one you linked, the ml239h, a 23" IPS monitor. Im sorry I can't provide a link, I'm still on my phone

Really sorry about that. Seems like my links aren't working. No clue as to why.

Oh, the ML239H. That's a nice one. My parents are using one of these actually and I think it's pretty good.

Asus have been making some very decent monitors this past while. I'd definitely consider their monitors as well. I really like the Samsung monitors, but they were still a bit expensive when I was choosing a suitable LCD for replacement. I went with an Asus VE248H around X'mas 2010. It hasn't had any problems so far and it's been pretty good.

Awesome =] I don't suppose they're gamers are they?

Also, I've read there is noticeable Backlight bleed with the ml238h, have you noticed any?

I had a look at your VE248H, lots of people saying it has ghosting problems?

Also checked out all those monitors, unfortunately reviews for each monitor mentioned that for gaming they're not really suited because of slow response times/ghosting

Ya I wish they were gamers. BF3 party at home.

Actually I haven't really noticed any backlight bleeding with our unit. It's been perfect so far. Those who did get problems must have got a faulty unit or could it be that they may be a bit too picky of their product?

I have heard of that problem with the VE248H, but seems like I haven't noticed it. I don't really see any trails behind my mouse moving or slow response from the screen when gaming/movies in 1080P. I'm sure it's alright. I think as long as the picture/colours look comfortable to my eyes in whatever I'm doing, then I would put it into my list of choices of LCDs.
