New Mobo, CPU, RAM - $1500 budget

Hey guys!

I'm looking to upgrade my mobo, cpu and ram - my budget is around $1500.

I do a lot of video editing, rendering and that sort of thing. Occasionally I like to max out a game and have some fun.

What components should I be looking at?
Are there any combinations you could recommend?

Well you are definitely looking at a 2011 rig for your budget and purpose. Are you needing to upgrade right away or can you wait a few months until haswell-e gets released?

Asus workstation motherboard, Kingston ram and a 4930k is how I'd do it.

I can wait a little. I briefly looked at haswell-e today.

Probably worth waiting for, huh? Do we know a little more about those upcoming processors? What motherboard and ram would you pick in that combination?

What's the opinion on DDR4?

I think they'll be more interesting than the current gen of extreme processors. Not much known about DDR4 and how it will perform in practice but they do have exciting stats.
