New Members: Post your introduction!

Hey guys,
I'm new to this overclocking thing and I WILL need so guidance in the right direction to get me started. I have already been welcomed by the staff and it seems like as the description says 'one big family'.

Thank you,
Ollie Cottam

Hellooo

Hi everyone!

Thought I'd take a moment to say hi. I've been watching TTL's videos for ages now and whilst at the moment I have NO gaming PC (last I had was when the ATi HD 4870 was a beast!), but once it was too old to play BF3 I got rid.

I just use PS3 and I got one month ago today the new Panasonic 47" LED TV, buuut I fancy getting back into PC's and building a beast so I look forward to reading all your words of inspiration and motivation!

See y'all around! :)

Hi guys!

Not completely new, been active for a few days now, first as r0l4n, then as XaviCampa and now as Xavi C (couldn't make up my mind about how much of my real name I want to disclose, go figure). Anyway, I'll stick to Xavi C, as makes it clearer what my nickname is or how I'd like to be addressed (Xavi).

Not much to say before hand, my interests are hardware, cars, virtualization and PC games, more or less in that order. I hope to stay active as much as I can!

PS. I had to create a new account to change name a second time, so administrators, feel free to dispose the XaviCampa account when you have a minute.

Hello

I just wanted to pop in and say hi before I am off to the rest of the forum. I have been overclocking for a long time now. My first computer was a Tandy Color Computer 2 when it was released. I am now finishing a new degree in Network and Software Administration for my second career. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Greetings,

Good to meet you all, some great stuff on these forums. Every day is a school day on here.

Already become quite interested in the folding threads, and if I can find the time, it might be something I look into pursuing, along with playing around with blowing some pc's up.

Predominantly you will find me hanging out of blobs.... I mean hanging out in the OC3D Aftershox gaming forum, as I am one of the many motley crew to have been assimilated by the borg into OC3D.

I look forward to discussing the evolution of man kind with you....... I mean everything Computerzzzz, and come join us for a game of tiddly winks. The Team Speak server is a great place to come and talk about anything. (literally)

In my spare time I provide elocution lessons to the Northern members of the OC3D Aftershox, as people find it extremely difficult to understand them on TS.

Fruity is our resident linguist for those multi-talented europeans amongst us who wish to speak in their common tongue with him......:)

Do a little dance, get down tonight.

Good to be here!!

Hey everyone I found this forum through watching some reviews on TTLC's youtube channel.
At the moment i'm in a bit of a dilemma :L Recently my HP Slimline's motherboard went out, I have absolutely no idea what caused this it might of been the power supply but who knows?! I was really kinda upset about this because I had just spent the summer before doing a gardening job with my neighbour which I used the money (and birthday money) to pay for it. Last christmas I wanted to upgrade my graphics card so I ordered a Sapphire HD 6570 2GB DDR3 card for £47 - It worked like a dream :p I was able to play all of my games on medium settings on my dodgy 15.6" AOC monitor at a 1366x768 resolution - Doesn't sound like much but it was better than the 9400gt I had before it. :/ So I still have the 6570 in its box as I have no use as my pc's dead- I don't see any reason to spend money on getting it fixed as it was pretty old when I got it. So I'm hopefully going to have a new computer my birthday on 2nd August - I have the gardening job again this summer and my sister gives me some money now and again :) I have a rough idea of what im going for I have a bookmarked folder of the parts ill be buying (off Aria)
If this sounds okay to you please say (please take into note im on a budget of around £160-£170- and I already have the GFX card and a brand new 250GB seagate HDD)

(if you have any better parts in mind around the same price please say)

Case: Fractal Core Design 1000 ~ £30
Mobo: MSI H61M-P31-G3 GEN3 ~ $34
PSU: Corsair CX430M ~ £40 (I wanted the modular one for less cables to mess with)
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 1x4GB 1600MHZ ~ £30 (I know my motherboard or CPU doesn't support all 1600MHZ but its the same price as 1333MHZ ram so I thought meh)
CPU: Either a Pentium G860 3.00GHZ or a Celeron G550 2.6GHZ - I haven't decided due to not knowing if ill have enough for it

That sums it up and I can sell two old GFX cards to CEX exchange to get £25 towards it so ill have £80 saved :D

Thanks to the people who took time to read this and i'm sure ill have good times on these forums :p

P.S. I have a fulling working C2D E7200 lying around that I could use instead of the Celeron and O'c it then that would cut my costs down
