Hey guys, welcome to the OC3D No Man's Sky Thread, where we can share our thoughts and experiences about this highly anticipated new game.

The game will go live in around 3 hours, so I thought I would just make this thread to give us all a nice place to start a discussion.

Feel free to share your experiences, both positive and negative as well as post your own videos and screenshots from the game.

I was all geared up to pull the trigger on the game on Steam today, but now I'm seeing this:

And reading the Steam reviews there are lots of people complaining about poor performance and the game crashing.... :(

Hopefully it's not another game broken at launch, but that doesn't inspire too much confidense. I reckon I'll be holding off for quite a while to come.

Is there anyone here experiencing problems?

I'm running 1080p maxed out on a 1070 at 100+ fps. I can't believe that i am for once one of the few people who don't have launch issues.
I suggest getting the game if you are interested and then refunding it if it runs like . Since it runs pretty well for me and i don't have an exceptional system i'm pretty sure the performance problems are just launch teething issues and not a sign of poor optimization.

It also runs absolutely fine on my two 1070s@1440p with a solid FPS. I suspect its the ol' previous nVidia gen cards that are having most of the issues.

I have not ran into many issues so far, though I have only used a GTX 1060.

I'll see if |I run into any issues with the other GPUs when I get around to using them.

Update - I have experienced the issues on the GTX 1060, lots of framerate drops etc. It can be fixed by changing the resolution and re-entering the game and then changing back.

Played at max settings 1440P with 1 x 1080 installed on an SSD and it's running fairly well.

Gameplay after around 2 hours gets a little boring and the graphics could use some polish.

i5 and 970 @1440 is fine with all the settings on High. Make sure you go into the settings and set 'Maximum Frame rate' to 60. With the game forced to run at 30fps (stock setting) the game was jumping all over the place and far from a smooth experience. Since getting to the settings and setting 60fps, smooth as you like.

Edit : Just been reading some details about the game on various systems, set the detail levels to high for a better and smoother experience, by all accounts people are complaining that the lower detail setting infact reduce performance, which would also tie in to the settings I changed.

Ι was watching a stream yesterday, the gal who was streaming has a 4770k and a 1070, the game ran like poop. And she said the CPU utilisation was at 50% for all threads...

Probably running old drivers and/or didn't touch the framerate option. Sounds like how it ran on my system (which is practically identical, there is no SLI profile) when I didn't notice the framerate limit settings  .

CPU wise its about right.

No, she showed us the options screen and said that the drivers were up to date.

There are plenty of streamers that have had issues, a lot of which stream for a living.

If I streamed for a living I would not have any system without the latest drivers. I'm sure they are just experiencing the same issues that the Steam forums have reported.

Seems to run fine for me maxed out @ 1440p. I get the odd stutter every few minutes or so but nothing too worrying.

I just find it terribly boring and bland.

Flying into a blackhole in no mans sky, took me a tiny little bit off course....by 500,000 lightyears, safe to say I aint finding my way back XD

YouTube seems to be broken on the forums so just put this into the address bar on YouTube - xK1PzGI9wBo

On a side note I just checked Nvidia Inspector and saw that there is actually no profile for this game in the driver.

For anyone interested in OBS forums a moderator said that setting the core affinity in task manager to for the game to use some cores fixes the issue The streamer I mentioned before set the affinity to cpu threads 0 to 3 and the issue is fixed

Please note that I am aware of the newly released experimental Beta patch for No Man's Sky.

Sadly I will not be able to test this new patch today as I am in my hometown today and will be attending a funeral of a close family friend. I will test this new beta patch as soon as I am able.

Runs fine on my 2 780's, though I doubt it's SLI'ing up (haven't checked) initial boot with the 1650 resolution and locked 30fps was hellish, but setting everything to max and rebooting soon resolved that.

I'm about 9 hours in, seen a good number of planets, have managed to warp around a few times.. Enjoying it so far. The space combat is a bit gash and their flight model needs work (though I am spoilt by Elite on that front) Mouse and keyboard for inputs here.

I can see people getting bored early on, but if the novelty of scanning all the wildlife, flora and fauna etc and naming all the things isn't for you, I guess that's why?
I laughed when I fed an animal to have it follow me around and then poop out some super-rare resources, that was a laugh.

I had a good bit of gameplay on a high radiation planet with little/no resources on it.. I made the mistake of hoping around a bit too much and ended up with no take-off fuel.. gathering that up when the radiation levels are that high was... stressful.. I kinda enjoyed it :)

Starting to see upgrades for various things now, discovering more recipes and stuff. I quite like it, I'm very surprised no-one has drawn the parallels between it and Subnautica yet.. it's kind of weirdly similar...
