Hey people,

Im new to the forums here. Im building a new i7comp in two or so weeks, and i was wondering if you guys could help me out with picking an x58motherboard.

Im fairly new to overclocking cpu's,memory and cards, but i do intend to learn everything from the forums and friends that are experienced in the field. With that being said, i would love to go with a high end board that i wont get bored with in a couple months. Ive been looking at the asus, gigabytes and evga boards.

I have the budget to go with the extreme series, however, i was wondering if that would just be rediculous for someone that is not half way professional at overclocking like me.

What you guys think? please try to be nice :)

Im leaning towards the Asus p6t deluxe v2

A price range would be nice.

But if you are willing to dish out money then check out some of the motherboard reviews and see which you like. :D

Welcome to the forums btw!

Well the price range would be below 400. I have been looking at the reviews for hours now haha.

Btw, is that East London, South Africa?

Err Zaks from East London, London, UK anyways if you look at the MSI X58 Pro Motherboard mobo review on OC3D you will see its a good overall motherboard and with the money you save on it believe me its WORTH it if you get a watercooling kit with your i7 believe me as soon as i can afford one the first thing im doing is watercooling my setup to get it to go the max!... Give us what other componets you want to use so we have a better idea...

I recommend you with ASUS RAMPAGE II GENE its a very good board and future proof with a great accessories and builtin X-Fi sound +LCD screen and many new fetures

here is some benchmark for it techspot.com/review/154-asus-rampage-2-gene/

Gene would be great for a Lan Rig, but go for a Full size board, I would go Rampage Extreme at the pricey end, or the P6T Deluxe

It depends if you already have a Sound Card in Mind too. If not you could choose The Asus Gene but that is a smaller mobo, not that it makes that much of a difference. Up to you really.

I have always bought Asus motherboards, great for Overclocking! :D some nice utilities too.
