wanna benchmark for oc3d, and i'm going through the beginner's stuff now, but just wanted to ask if i'd actually be any help (with the hardware in the sig)? (basically is this like folding where any little bit helps or do you actually need to have and be pro to help out the team)

thanks guys,

edit: also after reading a little, how does the point system work??? if i run a benchmark with my 580 for example, and then i run it again and again and again ... etc... do i keep getting points? or what?

Evening!

Well you have a nice rig there so that's a good start

Only your very best score counts. If every things submitted got points, no one would stop!

See how far your 2500K can go. You have one of the best 1155 boards for OC'ing around so jump into the BIOS, set 1.55v on the 2500K, set the multi to 55x and leave the bclk on 100 and see if you can reach the Windows loader. If not then chances are your chip isn't great. If you can see the Windows loader then it means you may have decent chip.

thanks for the reply,

actually i know that i don't have a very good chip (anymore), see i was running it at 5ghz at 1.39v for a little over a week F@H 24/7 and i think the chip degraded as after that i got bsod all the time at my previous 1.33v 4.8ghz settings
sad.gif
so now i run it at 4.6ghz at 1.3v and its stable as a rock, as for pushing it, my sig has 'my' highest clock but i was scared to push the volts. - any advice about how much i can increase the volts without damaging it further ? cuz i kinda need the chip to last me at LEAST till the end of this year.

i'll start by trying to push my 580, cuz it seems to OC pretty well (when i first got it i was playing around and running games at over 1ghz on the core, didn't need to so i usually just leave it at stock, but i might push it more for this

hey dude, welcome to the team

every 0.1 of a point helps the team so anything you can get from your system is ace mate

if you are 3d benching its more about the driver as some are just better for the bench (be it older or new) and some just clock better. i would start with unigine as its the hardest and then you know as you gthru the other tests you can increase the clocks
biggrin.gif

the 2500k is a tough chip but because it is so popular it also has great rewards with high boints.

you can also use your laptop, while it might not gain you a massive haul of hardware or personal boints i bet it will give you a nice bunch of team power points as i dont think many of us have benched either that cpu or gpu

something i will say too man, you dont need f@h stability to bench

haha kk thanks for that, i ran 1 benchmark with my gpu, just at 950mhz core clock, and i got 2.2 points
tongue.gif
haha of course i will be doing more and pushing more in the days to come.

also about the laptop, can it run any of the benchmarks like my desktop?? just wondering because it has a small screen resolution which i know is a problem with some of the 3dmark stuff cuz i couldn't run some... but i might have been doing it wrong
tongue.gif

sweet! like i said even 0.1 counts and they all add up
biggrin.gif

some of the new 3d stuff might not run if the lappy has a very low res screen but i doubt its less than 720, which is all you need but yep you can bench it
biggrin.gif

hehe thanks, and yea its 1366x768

k i just benched the laptop's cpu with wprime, and i took a screen shot, but when i pressed 'submit' or whatever it gave me an error on hwbot... do i submit wprime differently with the screenshot i took manually? i'll have to try again with my desktop to see if it'll work properly

idk dude, its hard to say based on what you say, it could just be an issue with hwbot backend or maybe you filled a box in wrong idk :|

i think i just did it work on my lappy, cuz i just ran some benches on my desktop (at 5.2GHz and with my gpu at 1GHz on the core) it worked fine (btw i'm at 3.7 points now
ohmy.gif
)

how do people get hundreds of points O.o dam...

lots of benching

some of us get lucky and do very well with a piece or type of hardware, i mean i got a good chunk of mine just from the oc on my q9550 as its in the top 40 of them all and the fastest in the uk. some people invest lots on cash in the fastest of everything and get monster boints from wr scores, a few ways to skin a cat but they all end the same.

oh kkkk,

also i have a question if my lappy's bios doesn't have any OCing what-so-ever is there another way to increase my benchs on it? (new install of windows is not possible, i have all my school stuff on that thing)

cpu tweaker might help you or a utility by the asus if they do one but other than that i dont think so :|

you can strip down services from your start up to help lighten windows on the system, this normally helps.
