New HDD/SSD

No idea what RAID is so ok np. Just a stupid question perhaps but how do i install my OS to my SSD ?
Do i just keep my SSD plugged in ands not my HDD ? Or can i plug my hdd in and is there an option when installing that i dont have problems later?

Put the windows disk or memory stick in, boot up, should come up with the option boot from disk - if not, you may have to go into the BIOS. On the windows install you can choose where you want to install it, and then when it restarts mid-way through the installation, it needs to boot from the SSD (as it will do in the future) so that must be selected as the primary boot drive in the BIOS

Tss I was about to pick WD black caviar for performance... untill i saw this.

1TB HDDs
- 5,76% : Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.B
- 5,20% : Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C
- 3,68% : Seagate Barracuda 7200.11
- 3,37% : Samsung SpinPoint F1
- 2,51% : Seagate Barracuda 7200.12
- 2,37% : WD Caviar Green WD10EARS
- 2,10% : Seagate Barracuda LP
- 1,57% : Samsung SpinPoint F3
- 1,55% : WD Caviar Green WD10EADS
- 1,35% : WD Caviar Black WD1001FALS
- 1,24% : Maxtor DiamondMax 23

2TB HDDs
- 9,71% : WD Caviar Black WD2001FASS
- 6,87% : Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000
- 4,83% : WD Caviar Green WD20EARS
- 4,35% : Seagate Barracuda LP
- 4,17% : Samsung EcoGreen F3
- 2,90% : WD Caviar Green WD20EADS

SSDs
- Intel 0,59%
- Corsair 2,17%
- Crucial 2,25%
- Kingston 2,39%
- OCZ 2,93%

These are the failure rates.

Agree with the M4, picked mine up last year 128gb, love it, not a SINGLE issue. I am going to grab another one soon cause the prices are getting so low. The Samsung 830 looks fast, and I have seen some great prices on the vertex 4 also. The kingston hyperx 3k has some killer deals too. But my money is on crucial.

I'm very sceptical of those failure rates.

And I know for a fact the SSD ones are wrong because Crucials is 0.7% and intel's is 1.6%. OCZ is also around the 7% mark - with certain drives like the Agility 3 having a 17% return rate.

Yup, that list doesn't look right. OCZ cannot have such a low failure rate. I say if you want the Caviar Black go for it :)

Well.. I cant find much reviews on HDD's :/
Neither on SSD's
I do want a good performing, fast and quiet HDD aswell as SSD. You guys say m4 for ssd but that isn't the fastest isn't it ?

As I said earlier....

Crucial and Western Digital are the most reliable companies in their fields of SSDs and HDDs.

Although the Crucial read and write speeds are listed as lower than some others - that is in 1024k performance. windows only uses 4k and 8k - at which speeds, the M4 is one of the fastest drivers there is.
So yeh, get the Crucial :)

Is it true if i pick 1tb hdd's that they have lower fail rates? If so how much hdd's and sdd's can i put in the corsair t600 white? motherboard is msi z77 g65

Look up the case specs and mobo specs, dude. We're not here to do the stuff that can be done with a simple google search.
As for HDD failure rates, no, I don't see that being true. The less platters in the HDD should mean less failures, however.

I have used Caviar Black 1TB hard drives for a few years now and running 24/7 with massive read/write, I have never had a failure. Of course, I do replace drives every 5 years or so. I am getting ready to SSD though, with Caviar Black as data backup.
