New gpu advices. primarly 680

hello boys & girls.

Im looking for a new gpu for my my new rig and thus im wondering what gpu brand I should go for. Im typically looking for something around 400-500 dollars, and with < 3 slots. Also Im planning for a future sli upgrade, after approx a year. Currently Im thinking of Gainward Phantom and Gigabyte Windforce 3x. (is there a phantom 2, or am I imagining things?) Mainly gtx 680, but also open for 7970 if there's a good reason for that like a super discount or something else.

If the colour is red, then that is a big +

I can for a reason wait 1-2 month b4 buying only if there is something new coming out soon. Im don't usually read about future gpus

PS. Why the hell does the Gainward gtx 680 phantom costs $1.1k @ amazon.com?! Usually in Norway EVERYTHING costs 2x more than USA, but to my shock the phantom costs 2x more in USA than in Norway. WTH?! Why?

seems pretty good one, but they dont sell them here in norway, and i dont see them in newegg either.

That review made me really want one, or two Right now Im leaning twards those three cards: windforce 3x, phantom and twin frozr 3. Another though that occured to me is that i might wait til march for the new amd gpus and use one of my old pgus in the mean while. But yet again i might aswell wait for ever for new gpus to come out

Typically when any new cards come out they want premium prices for them , if you can really afford it wait and get one . You can probably get a good price for one of the three cards you mentioned and wait for the price to drop on the new ones.

Gainward are a cheap tat brand imo and the phantom cooler has annoying whiney little fans. The gigabyte and msi offerings are much better for 2 slots.

If you're set on nvidia I think the asus dcuII 670s are 2 slot.

That might be true since i dont have any experience with gainwardcards, but i still think it's pretty weird why they cost 2x more in uk and usa, but not in norway.

The reason why im thinking about the phantom is that they have pull fans. Combined with my nzxt 810 case, im thinking that if i adjust the 2 middle front fans to blow on the gpus, ill then get a sort of a push/pull setup. Do u guys think this will work?

Do anyone here know typically how long the premium periodes lasts? Also will there be any nvidia 7xx series this year?

the wiki page on the sea island 8000 AMD gpus has them coming in at price-model match of the current 7000's, then again that's a wikipedia page so take that witha grain of salt.

The 8xxx series is just a rebadging job of the 7xxx series, so no point in waiting.

don`t buy phantoms.they brag about silent and stuff but they run very hot.windforce is very good.even the windforce 2x cools better with 7-10C than phantoms.and they are quiet.sli some gtx 670 or cf 7970.the gtx 680 is a waste in my opinion.for the price i mean compared with the 7970.

Generally in Norway youre looking at max GTX670 or a 7950/70.

DustinHome.se is an official retailer for CLUB 3D.
The .no and .dk-branches is sort of the same company.... However they only have the Eyefinity6 card in their listed products. I dont think its impossible they will get a card for a spesific order...not saying that im sure they will. Just saying its worth a mail.

3,5 NOK should set u up with a really nice 3Gb 7970 or 670
