New flat, New desk!

Just put this together last night. Considering I have made no attempt at cable hiding yet, I think it looks pretty clean! Really chuffed with what you can get for £50 from Ikea.

Let me know what you think, and if I should swap the TJ07 for a Caselabs as it's getting a bit dated!

What case labs would you get?

You can make the TJ07 into a pretty cool project with all of the panels you can buy for them now.

Also for those looking for a desk they could visit a carpentry workshop -I don't know if easy to find- and ask the woodworker for the exact dimensions you want, you pretty much pay the materials, he shouldn't take much money for cutting the wood the size you want, if you want something simple without drawers.

Nice one! Looks really nice and tidy.

Questions:

1. The right wallpaper, you got a link for it? :)
2. The bass for the 2.1 Logitech speakers, ever thought of mounting it up under the desk? If so and if done, please let me know how you did it, as I'm trying to think out a way of doing it.

I've got a few ColdZero parts in it atm actually. But I am by no means an experienced modder and the standard of finish I want is not something I can achieve myself tbh.

Most definitely the Mercury S5. I really hate the normal orientation for expansion cards. GPU sagging has been a problem for me in every case I have had to date.

Nice and clean :) are they quite sturdy?
Also are the legs metal or wood?

Thanks! I am still tidying as I go, no visible cables is the goal obv :)

TBH I had a little bit of wobbling initially when I tested the big one (200x60cm) by itself. Adding the second one (100x60cm) in completely sorted it out, no wobbling even when I slapped my G27 on it :)

Metal legs, yeah, pretty much Ikea's universal mounting system for tabletops. £2.5 a leg :D

1. Here ya go :)
Although it doesn't look great in 16:9 imo :/

2. I've not thought about that soz. The fear of annoying vibrations on the desk will prevent me from ever thinking about that aha.

Could you not just get some cheap wall brackets if your desk is against one?

Thats cool the main reason i was asking is i needed to know if i would need a panel saw or hack saw haha. Looks nice and clean though and desk management just comes with day to day use. You going to run leds?

Nice space you got there.

Also did anyone else read it as "New flat desk!" then seem a bit confused?
Ok.. just me then.

Haha same here. I have been away from the UK so long, I call it an apartment now instead of Flat. All the typical british terms are gone from my vocabulary...well, all except the bad ones that get censored on here :D

Ah just means you need to come back for a pint or glass or wine what ever is your poison.
And i just realised that long desk is really long lol.

Shame no local ikea to me. I had a look after seeing this thread and was tempted with one of the desks at £35 but after checkout I got to delivery section, enter post code and they wanted £35 to deliver

Needless to say I did not order. :(

£35 is fine.

Try paying £110 to get something delivered!

Ikea wanted £25 to have the 2 desk tops and 9 legs delivered...
Needless to say I was not having that! Struggled home with them on the bus aha!

I recently did something similar with some Ikea tables. Found out they are hollow on the sides, only the ends where the legs go are solid. I had to get creative when making an L-shaped desk out of them. Still though, for the price, they can't be beat.

Nice looking set up!

I used to use two of those exact tables (the 1m version). They're fantastic for the money. Same colours too :)

ive currently got a galant which is 800mm deep, how do you find the desk being 600 deep? as I'm looking at these exact desks to fit into my new study, cheers

I use a kitchen worktop that I fitted along the it room its 610 deep I have my enthoo pro ma 27" curved screen and have been like this for 4 years now.
Using a bench option allows me to cut holes for cables without concern for damaging a desk, use any type of storage I like underneath and should I fancy a change in desk I just need to go to the hardware store and choose the wood
