First post and all that, been hovering around the forums for a few months but watching the vids for a lot longer.
I am looking to get a new cpu, mobo in the next few months and need some advice on which cpu to get. I am looking at i7 6700/7700, i5 6600/7600 & Ryzen 7 1700 & 1700x.
Looking at OverclockersUK there is not a massive price difference between most of these cpu's with the 1700x being the exception.
So my question is, purely for gaming do I need more than 4 cores & do I need hyper threading. I have had a quick google and there aren't many games that can take advantage of more cores & hyper threading. Are the newest games coming out in the next year or so going to be taking any advantage of the extra cores & threads something like a new Ryzen cpu would have?
