Hi all,
I’m planning to build a new rig for this year.
Things finally set:
CPU: i7-4790K
MOBO: MSI Z97M-Gaming
RAM: Kingston Hyper X Savage 8GB*2 1866MHz (2133 or 2400MHz)
GPU: ZOTAC 980 Reference Card
PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 750W
HDD & SSD: Crucial MX200 500GB
Cooling: custom loop for CPU and GPU
Radiator: 2 units of XSPC RX240 (none to mild overclocking only)
Water Block:
CPU - Bitspower Summit Acetal
GPU - Either XSPC of Bitspower
Tubing: Acrylic Tubing
Case: Fractal Design Midi R2
Question:
1. can 2 units of RX240 cool a CPU and GPU?

Thanks in advance for all advices.

Hi all,
I’m planning to build a new rig for this year.
Some items are yet to finalise:
CPU: i5-4690K
MOBO: MSI Z97M-Gaming OR ASUS Maximus GENE/Gryphon Z97
RAM: Kingston Hyper X 8GB*2 1866MHz
GPU: ZOTAC 980 AMP! Edition or 980 AMP! Omega Edition
PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 750W
HDD & SSD: will be used back the current one
Cooling: custom loop for CPU and GPU
Radiator: XSPC RX240 (none to mild overclocking only)
Case: Obsidian 450D/350D, Fractal Design Node 804, Phanteks Enthoo Evolv OR Thermaltake Core X2
Question are:
1. can RX240 fit into top of the 450D/350D, Node 804 or Evolv?
2. what other casing would be like Core X2 that have horizontal MOBO plate?
Thanks in advance for all advices.

All you have to do is go look at our reviews about that fella......

I'd hold off on GPUs. AMD should be announcing their's shortly. Everything else looks fine to me

AMD might announce something shortly but it could still be a while before they actually have new products for sale. If we knew there was new stuff on sale in say 2 weeks to a month, then sure you could wait, as of now, might as well go with the 980.

No. They already have the 380x being produced. Just a matter of time before its announced. The 380x is rumored to challenge the 980.

Well okay, all i meant was dont play the waiting game, and even then if it does beat the 980 i just hope it isnt a repeat of the 290x, which was stupid hot, loud and powerhungry, granted 3rd party coolers fixed the heat and noise but still.

I don't think so

If the 380X was in production there would be a leak a minute about specs performance and anything else related.

Of course they could rebrand the 290X as the 380X and then your claim would be true.:D

I guess only Node 804 is my choice of case to fit a RX240 in it.
I'll keep an eye on AMD new released GPU. just wait the final spec and review.
have done a little bit search on horizontal mobo plate. at the moment, only case lab mercury s5 has this feature. but the price is too much for me.
any other suggestion for the casing?

You can fit that radiator in the front of the Nzxt h440 and i believe even in the s340.

Pretty sure employees stating the cards are coming is better than any picture leak and confirming HBM. You guys even read it?

Yep I even run a thread with all these sort of leaks in.

Just to help to out here is one I busted myself.

This is supposed to be the leaked performance of a 3XX series card

It is in actual fact a pair of 290Ps in CF.

If you don't believe me here is the same bench with two of my 290Xs running stock. Just compare the graphics scores and the GT1, 2, 3 and 4 tests and you will see the difference exactly matches the difference between 290P CF and 290X CF.

Nothing like a good rumour for a bit of a laugh.:D

H440 seem like a little big for me. will check the S340 review.

What are you using for pump and res? is it just the cpu you are water cooling?

D5 pump and an EK tube res (the smallest one, if i want to fit it into Node 804). for starting, just CPU. then later will water cool the GPU too.

Good choice on the Node 804 :)

I think so. if it has horizontal mobo plate, it would be perfect.

None of that has anything to do with what I am talking about? All I am saying is that it has been confirmed and being produced/taped out along with HBM memory instead of traditional GDDR5 vram.

All of it confirmed by AMD employees... I don't see what the argument here is?

Prove it.:D

You also realise that there are plenty of NVidia employees who have confirmed the successor to Maxwell but that could be years away.

I will take you seriously if you can produce a pic of the PCB with the chip on it like the ones doing the rounds for GM200 (even with this we still don't know when the Maxwell Titan will appear).
