Need me some dimensions please

Hello. I am building my own computer case and would like to know some standard dimensions so that i can upgrade the hardware without worrying what will fit.

I am after 240 rad dimensions so that i can allow for different fan spacing and overall size without it getting in the way of other components.

Really i would like to hear them from someone like Tom that has had personal experience with a variety of different hardware.

Errrm... I think that makes sense? lol

Please add any additional info that you think will come in handy. Remember, i want to make MY case house basically any component off the shelf without any future modding.

Cheers,
Chris.

Hello and thanks for the reply.
Yes i realise that but there HAS to be a standard that case manufactures (not rad makers) use to ensure 90% of hardware out there will fit without a problem.

I'm trying to future proof my case.

Thanks,
Chris.

well if you work the thickness with push pull fans to be 115mm (2x25mm fans + 60mm rad) and the length to be 300mm the only standard on 240 is the gap between the centre 2 screw holes for the fans which is 20mm to the centre of each hole. Your best bet would be to decide what rad you want and get it and then work your case around it's dimensions if you want a snug fit, as it's the size of the end tanks at each end that vary, if you look at the one in that link they vary from 270mm to 294mm in length

edit
if your not worried for snug fit you could work on
50mm,fan,fan,50mm that way you should be able to fit most rads with the fittings end either way.
if your building your own case I'd go for a 360 rad rather then a 240 tbh

Ok thanks. I will probably space it so a 294mm rad can be fitted then.
I think i'm going to CAD up several rad designs and test fit them in my model. I would just buy the parts now, but I cant really afford them yet and the parts will just be sitting around while I'm building.

How much extra length does a 90 degree fitting add? Looking on Specialtech they seem to add like 30-40mm of hight depending on whether they are the barb type or compression, 5mm of that is thread.

ummm fan spacing is 15mm standard now it was back and forth on 15mm or 20mm earlier but now you'll see most newer rads support 15mm fan spacing.

fitting normally point down so don't effect the overall dimensions as they are shorter then the fans only a few rads have ports that allow fittings to point out the end

opps my bad :smileyshot:

Ok sweet cheers mate.

Hello. For my case i will want the ones that come out the end. This is so it will look cleaner and allow me to hide hose.

Cheers mate. I'm sue this will come in handy.
